Job summary

Eaton Life Safety Division is seeking an embedded firmware engineer to develop next-generation edge devices for Life Safety systems. You will work with a cross-functional team to deliver high-quality firmware on Linux-based platforms, focusing on performance, security, and reusability.

You will collaborate with product owners and test teams to meet milestones, while leveraging Industrial Ethernet protocols and RTOS in a fast-growing company environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Electrical/Electronics Engineering is required.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in C, C++, Linux firmware on microcontrollers and device drivers; Industrial Ethernet protocols like EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, Profinet, BACnet IP, 61850; other fieldbus techs.
• Strong knowledge of Linux (Driver, Kernel), API-based frameworks or SDKs.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to software development with high-performance Linux-based firmware.
• Define structured software solutions meeting requirements while optimizing performance and security.
• Translate business features into technical requirements and acceptance criteria for the dev team.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, engineering and test to deliver high-quality products.
• Develop and execute plans for incremental project delivery.
• Write high-quality unit-tested code and enable re-use.
• Coordinate with test team to ensure test coverage and quality metrics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Electrical/Electronics Engineering from an accredited institution required.
• 3+ years of hands‑on expertise in C, C++, Linux based firmware applications on microcontrollers, device drivers, data structuresIndustrial Ethernet protocols like EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, Profinet, BACnet IP, 61850 and or device level field bus technologies -Modbus, Device Net, Profibus DP, BACNet, REST is preferred.
• Good knowledge on Linux (Driver, Kernel) , API based framrworks or SDK.

Skills

• Experience in development of industrial fieldbus communication protocols like EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, Webserver.
• Experience in RTOS platform, address Cyber-security requirements, fix the issues reported by static code anaysis tools like Coverity or parasoft.
• Hands‑on experience in developing application firmware for user interfaces & writing Unit Tests.
• Experience in working in Agile Team & usage of tools like JIRA, BitBucket, JAMA.
• Hands‑on experience on developing test automations will be added advantage.
• Understanding of OPC-UA, MQTT, PROFINET, EtherCAT.
• Strong organizational leadership skills.
• Extensive experience in hiring talented people for diverse, productive development teams.
