Quality Assurance
- Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific Quality Assurance and Quality Control plans, inspection and test plans, method statements, checklists, and quality procedures.
- Ensure project activities are executed in accordance with approved specifications, drawings, procedures, quality standards, and contractual requirements.
- Review project documentation, including quality plans, inspection procedures, method statements, material submittals, and technical submissions.
- Participate in project quality planning, risk assessments, audits, inspections, and management reviews.
- Monitor the effectiveness of quality processes and recommend improvements to prevent recurring issues.
- Maintain quality records and ensure that documentation is complete, accurate, traceable, and properly controlled.
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the organization’s Quality Management System.
Quality Control and Inspection
- Conduct inspections and verify the quality of materials, equipment, workmanship, and completed activities at various project stages.
- Ensure that inspection and testing activities are carried out in accordance with approved Inspection and Test Plans and project requirements.
- Review and verify material certificates, test reports, calibration certificates, supplier documents, and certificates of conformity.
- Coordinate with site teams, subcontractors, laboratories, consultants, and client representatives to schedule inspections and testing activities.
- Monitor construction, fabrication, installation, testing, and commissioning activities to confirm compliance with approved requirements.
- Identify defective, nonconforming, or incomplete work and ensure that corrective actions are properly implemented and verified.
- Review inspection requests, test results, quality checklists, punch lists, and final handover documentation.
- Verify that measuring and testing equipment is calibrated, fit for purpose, and used in accordance with approved procedures.
Nonconformance and Corrective Action
- Raise, review, track, and close Non-Conformance Reports, observations, deficiencies, and quality-related corrective action requests.
- Investigate the root causes of quality issues and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
- Follow up with responsible parties to ensure timely resolution of nonconformities and prevent recurrence.
- Maintain detailed records of quality incidents, corrective actions, approvals, and closure evidence.
- Escalate significant or recurring quality concerns to the appropriate project and management teams.
Audits and Compliance
- Conduct internal, subcontractor, supplier, and site quality audits as required.
- Support external, client, consultant, certification, and regulatory audits.
- Verify compliance with applicable international and local standards, project specifications, approved procedures, and statutory requirements.
- Monitor subcontractor and supplier quality performance and ensure that their quality documentation and processes meet project requirements.
- Contribute to quality performance reports, key performance indicators, trend analysis, and management reviews.
Coordination and Reporting
- Work closely with engineering, construction, procurement, commissioning, HSE, and project management teams to integrate quality requirements into project execution.
- Provide technical guidance on quality standards, inspection requirements, testing methods, and document control.
- Attend project meetings and communicate quality concerns, inspection status, nonconformities, and improvement actions.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports, inspection summaries, audit reports, and quality performance updates.
- Support the preparation of final dossiers, as-built documentation, operation and maintenance records, and project handover packages.
- Promote a proactive quality culture and encourage all project personnel and contractors to follow approved quality processes.
Key Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Industrial, or a related engineering discipline.
- Relevant professional training or certification in quality management, inspection, or engineering quality control is preferred.
Experience
- Experience in QA/QC engineering, quality control, inspection, construction, manufacturing, engineering projects, or a related industry.
- Practical experience in reviewing technical documentation, conducting inspections, managing nonconformities, and preparing quality reports.
- Experience working with contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and client representatives.
- Exposure to project execution, material inspection, testing, commissioning, and handover activities is desirable.
Technical Knowledge
- Good understanding of Quality Management Systems and quality assurance principles.
- Knowledge of applicable engineering codes, standards, specifications, inspection methods, and testing requirements.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, method statements, inspection checklists, and test procedures.
- Familiarity with Inspection and Test Plans, Material Inspection Reports, Request for Inspection processes, Non-Conformance Reports, punch lists, and final quality dossiers.
- Understanding of root-cause analysis, corrective and preventive action processes, audit techniques, and continuous improvement practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and quality documentation or project management systems.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 principles and certification requirements is preferred.
Professional Certifications
- ISO 9001 Quality Management System auditor or internal auditor certification is preferred.
- Relevant inspection certifications such as welding, coating, NDT, civil, electrical, mechanical, or instrumentation certifications may be advantageous depending on the project discipline.
- Membership in a recognized engineering or quality professional body is desirable.
