Job Summary

We are looking for a technically proficient and experienced Engineer Production (Vessel) to manage project execution, engineering coordination, material planning, fabrication, quality control, FAT activities, installation, and vendor coordination. The role requires strong knowledge of pressure vessel fabrication, piping, engineering drawings, material management, quality standards, and production planning.

The candidate will be responsible for ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, within budget and schedule, and in compliance with applicable engineering codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning & Execution
  • Review Project Specification Sheets (PSS) and project requirements.
  • Develop and monitor project execution plans, schedules, resource requirements, and budgets.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Production, Quality, Stores, PPC, Construction, and other multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ensure seamless integration of Vessel & Zeta Components with other project systems.
  • Monitor project progress and take corrective actions to avoid delays.
2. Technical Design Review & Engineering Coordination
  • Review Vessel & Zeta Components designs, layouts, GA drawings, fabrication drawings, and schematics for technical accuracy and feasibility.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable engineering specifications, codes, and standards such as ASME, ASME BPE, ANSI, API, and ASTM.
  • Coordinate with the Engineering Design team for vessel and Zeta component-related drawings.
  • Review engineering drawings and initiate Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) wherever required.
  • Follow up for revised drawings and ensure timely implementation.
  • Coordinate with Engineering for preparation and finalization of Bill of Materials (BOM).
3. Material Planning & Resource Management
  • Prepare steel material nesting drawings for material planning and indenting.
  • Generate BOMs based on GA and fabrication drawings.
  • Coordinate with Stores to verify material availability and stock during BOM preparation.
  • Prepare material indents/material requests in coordination with the PPC and Procurement teams.
  • Follow up with the Purchase team for timely receipt of indented materials.
  • Prepare issue slips for job work orders and coordinate with vendors and the Quality team for material inspection at vendor locations.
  • Prepare issue slips for collection of materials from Stores.
  • Coordinate with Stores to maintain adequate consumable and safety stock.
  • Monitor material inventory and optimize material scheduling to prevent production delays and control costs.
4. Production Planning & Shop Floor Coordination
  • Prepare daily manpower plans based on production schedules and project priorities.
  • Coordinate with production personnel to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of activities.
  • Monitor fabrication and production activities to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications.
  • Ensure proper shop-floor discipline, cleanliness, housekeeping, and safety practices.
  • Monitor product quality throughout the manufacturing process.
5. Pre-FAT & FAT Coordination
  • Review project specifications, drawings, quality requirements, and inspection criteria before FAT.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, vendors, QA/QC teams, and internal departments to ensure FAT readiness.
  • Conduct Pre-FAT inspections and identify potential issues requiring corrective action.
  • Develop and coordinate FAT plans, schedules, checklists, and testing protocols.
  • Ensure availability of required tools, testing equipment, documentation, and competent personnel.
  • Coordinate FAT activities with clients, consultants, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure all FAT observations are properly documented and closed.
6. Installation & Site Supervision
  • Supervise site installation activities related to piping assembly, welding, alignment, supports, and associated equipment.
  • Ensure installation activities are executed as per approved drawings, specifications, and applicable standards.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers, supervisors, and field personnel.
  • Resolve site-related technical and installation issues efficiently.
7. Quality Assurance & Inspection
  • Coordinate and conduct inspections, testing, and quality checks as per project requirements.
  • Supervise/coordinate hydrostatic testing, pneumatic testing, and applicable NDT activities.
  • Verify fabrication and installation activities against approved drawings and specifications.
  • Identify deviations, defects, and non-conformities and ensure timely corrective actions.
  • Maintain high standards of quality throughout fabrication, installation, and testing activities.
8. HSE Compliance
  • Ensure all vessel fabrication, production, and installation activities comply with applicable HSE requirements.
  • Enforce safe working practices at the shop floor and project sites.
  • Conduct risk assessments and support implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Promote a strong safety culture among employees, contractors, and vendors.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping and safe handling of materials and equipment.
9. Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate project and production documentation.
  • Prepare work progress reports, inspection reports, testing records, material records, and other project documentation.
  • Track project milestones, delays, risks, and action items.
  • Provide regular updates to Project Managers and management.
  • Ensure proper documentation and closure of quality and project-related observations.
10. Troubleshooting & Problem Solving
  • Identify technical and production issues during fabrication, installation, and testing.
  • Coordinate with relevant teams to develop practical and timely solutions.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for recurring technical or production issues.
  • Implement corrective and preventive measures to improve project execution and minimize delays.
11. Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination
  • Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, and job-work agencies for project requirements.
  • Follow up on material, fabrication, inspection, and delivery schedules.
  • Resolve technical and execution-related issues with vendors and subcontractors.
  • Ensure vendors meet project quality, schedule, and technical requirements.
12. Continuous Improvement & Team Development
  • Identify opportunities to improve fabrication, production, material utilization, and project execution processes.
  • Implement best practices to improve efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Support process standardization and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing.
Required Skills & Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of pressure vessel fabrication, piping, welding, and mechanical fabrication.
  • Good understanding of GA drawings, fabrication drawings, engineering drawings, BOMs, and material specifications.
  • Knowledge of ASME, ASME BPE, ANSI, API, ASTM and other relevant engineering standards.
  • Experience in material planning, nesting, BOM preparation, material indenting, and inventory coordination.
  • Knowledge of FAT, Pre-FAT, hydro testing, pneumatic testing, and NDT.
  • Strong project coordination and production planning skills.
  • Vendor and subcontractor management skills.
  • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and team-management skills.
  • Good understanding of HSE requirements and shop-floor safety practices.
  • Ability to work effectively under project deadlines.
Education & Experience
  • Education: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in pressure vessel fabrication, piping, process equipment, mechanical fabrication, project execution, production, or manufacturing.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech will be an advantage.
