Job summary

Eaton in India is seeking an experienced Automation Test Engineer focused on embedded and industrial automation products. You will design, develop, and maintain Python-based automated tests and frameworks, and validate protocols like Modbus, MQTT, OPC UA, EtherCAT, and CAN.

You will collaborate with firmware, software, and systems teams, contribute to CI/CD pipelines, and participate in Agile ceremonies to drive quality and automation improvements across the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
• 3–6 years of experience in embedded firmware testing, industrial automation, PLC testing, or test automation development.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Python and Pytest.
• Execute functional, integration, system, and regression testing for embedded and industrial automation products.
• Support PLC application testing and validation using CODESYS and Structured Text.
• Validate industrial communication protocols including Modbus, MQTT, OPC UA, EtherCAT, BACnet, RS485, and CAN.
• Analyze test failures and collaborate with firmware, software, and system engineers to identify root causes.
• Contribute to automation framework enhancements and test infrastructure improvements.
• Support integration of automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Create and maintain test documentation, test reports, and validation artifacts.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum activities, including sprint planning, reviews, and defect triage.
• Support adoption of modern testing methodologies and AI-enabled automation practices.

Skills

Hands-on experience in embedded firmware validation, industrial automation testing, and test automation development. Experience in designing, developing, and executing Python-based automated test solutions using Pytest. Exposure to PLC programming and testing using CODESYS and IEC 61131-3 Structured Text (ST). Good understanding of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, MQTT, OPC UA, EtherCAT, BACnet, RS485, and CAN.

Experience in developing automated test scripts is a plus, validating embedded and industrial automation products, analyzing test failures, and supporting firmware and system engineering teams. Familiarity with CI/CD concepts, Agile development methodologies, and modern software quality practices. Exposure to AI-assisted testing and automation techniques is an added advantage.
