Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and integrate CMOS, CCD, InGaAs SWIR, FPA and other detectors.
• Collaborate on low-noise front-end electronics and sensor interfaces.
• Perform detector characterisation, calibration and performance evaluation.
• Conduct photo-response, dark current, dynamic range, noise and QE testing.
• Support thermal and cryogenic integration for infrared imaging systems.
• Develop test setups using integrating spheres, monochromators and blackbody sources.
• Troubleshoot detector and sensor issues during development and qualification.
• Support design verification, validation and documentation.

Role & responsibilities

We are looking for a highly motivated Engineer Optics Detector Design (Electro-Optics & Sensor Development) to support the development and integration of advanced optical and infrared detector technologies for aerospace and defence applications. The role covers detector selection, sensor characterisation, signal processing and integration with electro-optical payload systems.

• Evaluate and integrate CMOS, CCD, InGaAs SWIR, Focal Plane Arrays (FPA), APDs and other advanced detector technologies


• Collaborate with hardware teams on low-noise front-end electronics and sensor interface design


• Perform detector characterisation, calibration and performance evaluation


• Conduct photo-response, dark current, dynamic range, noise and quantum efficiency testing


• Support thermal and cryogenic integration activities for high-performance infrared imaging systems


• Develop test setups using integrating spheres, monochromators, blackbody sources and related instrumentation


• Troubleshoot detector and sensor performance issues during development and qualification


• Support design verification, validation and documentation activities

Preferred candidate profile

• B.E / B.Tech / M.Tech in Electronics Engineering, Optoelectronics, Applied Physics, Photonics or related disciplines


• 36 years of relevant experience in detector or sensor development


• Strong understanding of detector physics and electro-optical sensing technologies


• Knowledge of CMOS, CCD, SWIR, MWIR, LWIR and infrared detector systems


• Experience with sensor interface protocols and FPGA-to-sensor integration


• Familiarity with detector performance metrics such as NETD, NEP, D*, QE and SNR


• Hands-on experience with optical characterisation and test equipment


• Proficiency in Python and/or MATLAB for data analysis and automation


• Preferred industry experience: Electro-Optics, Infrared Imaging, Sensor Development, Aerospace, Defence Electronics, Surveillance Systems, Imaging Payloads, Photonics
