Job summary

NewSpace Research and Technologies in Bengaluru and Delhi NCR is seeking a Robotics Engineer to advance autonomous UAV platforms and edge-computer integration. You will lead sensor fusion efforts, develop navigation stacks, and ensure robust software from simulation to real-world deployment.

The role requires strong C++11/14 and Python skills, ROS/ROS2 expertise, and experience with SLAM and 3D sensor integration on Linux.

Qualifications

  • Experience in autonomous UAVs and robotics with edge device integration.
  • Proficient in C++11/14 and Python.
  • Experience with SLAM and 3D sensor fusion on Linux ROS/ROS2.
  • Ability to scale navigation to multi-agent swarm architecture; hardware-in-loop experience.
  • BS/MS in CS/Mechatronics/Aerospace related fields.

Responsibilities

  • Select hardware sensors and integrate with software on edge devices.
  • Calibrate cameras, acquire lidar/radar data, and integrate sensors.
  • Perform hardware-in-the-loop & software-in-the-loop simulations.
  • Transition from simulation to real-world execution; identify risks.
  • Lead a team and architect hardware-software pipeline from ground control to navigation code.
  • Document and verify long-term software stability.
  • Maintain code and perform reviews; guide scalable architecture.

Job description

We are a start-up based out of Bengaluru & Delhi NCR. We are engaged in development of next generation missions and technologies (NGM&T) towards future warfare needs of the Indian defence forces. It is undertaking research towards enhancing persistence and autonomy for unmanned vehicles and robotic swarms. NRT’s product development portfolio includes a solar power stratospheric high altitude pseudo satellite (HAPS) unmanned platform and an air/ground launched stand-off autonomous system.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Take up hardware sensor selection and have a good grounds-up understanding of hardware software integration on edge devices.
  • Understanding of camera calibration, lidar/radar data acquisition, sensors and integration in application software.
  • Perform hardware-in-the-loop & software-in-the-loop simulations for end application.
  • Ability to bring product from simulation to real world execution with identification of risks/ limitations.
  • Good leadership skills with ability to lead a team and work on architecting complete hardware and software pipeline of product from front end ground control station (GCS) to backend navigation code.
  • Responsibility for documentation and verification of software stability in the long run.
  • Should act as code maintainer, perform code reviews and guide the team for developing scalable architecture.
Must have skills

Good working experience in Autonomous UAV & Robotics.

  • Experience of coding in object oriented languages like C++11, C++14 and Python.
  • Good understanding of aerospace systems and controls.
  • Expertise in navigation stack development for any autonomous robot with strong hold in computer vision areas like SLAM, depth from stereo cameras, camera calibration etc.
  • Should have worked on 3D sensor integration with Linux based end application.
  • Should be able to scale up navigation of UAV from single agent navigation to multi-agent swarm architecture.
  • Good knowledge of deploying software on hardware platforms like Snapdragon, Nvidia.
  • Should have worked on the Linux ROS /ROS2 platform for software development.
  • Good programming skills in Python, C/C++.
  • Knowledge of autopilot firmware like PX4 / Ardupilot would be a huge plus.
  • Strong coordination and management skills, ability to motivate others.
  • Robotics engineer with 2-5 years of experience in multi-rotor UAV navigation/localization in indoor and outdoor environment.
  • Btech/Mtech from Computer Science / Mechatronics / Aerospace or related field.
