Job summary

Schneider Electric - Secure Power is seeking a Firmware Developer with strong embedded Linux experience. You will own firmware for three-phase UPS products, collaborate with hardware teams, and drive robust, secure embedded software across platforms.

Responsibilities include design, development, and testing of embedded software, driver development, bootloaders, and validation plans. A background in Agile and cross-functional collaboration is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics and Communication, Embedded Systems, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
• 3–8 years of experience in embedded systems firmware development, specifically with Linux-based platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design embedded software solutions using the Linux operating system.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to understand system requirements and specifications, especially in power electronics products.
• Design, develop, and own product firmware for new product development.
• Work with other developers to ensure the development of future-proof products meeting cost, time, quality, and business needs.
• Represent the team in technical discussions with project stakeholders and other technical teams across the organization.
• Develop a deep understanding of existing product architectures.
• Lead cybersecurity topics for the development site.
• Responsible for resolution of field issues that require product expertise.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams to bring in best engineering practices and processes.
• Customize and optimize Linux kernels and distributions for specific hardware platforms.
• Debug and troubleshoot software and hardware issues in embedded systems.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
• Develop and execute test plans to verify and validate embedded software functionality.
• Document software designs, specifications, and test plans for future reference.

Position Overview

Schneider Electric - Secure Power is looking for a Firmware Developer knowledgeable in embedded product development. The candidate will own the firmware for a range of three-phase UPS products, collaborating with other domain experts. As an Embedded developer, you will design, develop, and maintain embedded software solutions based on the Linux operating system. Direct experience in product development is essential and background in Agile methodology is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design embedded software solutions using the Linux operating system.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor\'s or Master\'s degree in Electronics and Communication, Embedded Systems, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
2. 3 to 8 years of experience in embedded systems firmware development, specifically with Linux-based platforms.

Required Skills

1. Proficiency in programming languages such as C and C++.
2. Strong understanding and experience in Object-Oriented Design principles for developing efficient and maintainable software.
3. Solid understanding of embedded Linux development tools and toolchains.
4. Experience with device driver development, kernel programming, and real-time operating systems.
5. Knowledge of hardware interfaces and protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, USB), particularly in power electronics products.
6. Familiarity with board bring-up and bootloaders.
7. Experience with version control systems, such as Git, in both Linux and Windows environments.
8. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze and debug complex issues.
9. Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a team.
10. Experience incorporating MQTT protocol for efficient messaging in embedded systems.
11. Experience developing data hub components for handling MQTT messages.
12. Knowledge of MQTT broker configuration and integration within embedded systems, specifically with Mosquitto.
13. Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python for automation and system-level tasks.
14. Experience with Eclipse IDE for software development in both Linux and Windows environments.
15. Experience with Jenkins server framework for continuous integration and deployment automation.

Preferred Skills

1. Familiarity with ARM or other embedded processor architectures.
2. Knowledge of networking protocols and TCP/IP stack.
3. Preferred working experience with power electronics products.
4. Experience in electronics circuit design and testing.
5. Experience with cross-compilation and cross-development environments.
6. Understanding of software security principles and best practices.
