ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Service Engineer, Gateway Service Solutions serves as a key member of the SES Infrastructure, Engineering & Operations organization, providing specialized technical expertise to support the design, implementation, and commissioning of new service platforms across SES Gateway and Teleport facilities. This role is responsible for collecting and defining technical requirements, developing standardized processes, and supporting workflow management and automation initiatives that align with ITIL service management practices. The Engineer will manage system interfaces, collaborate closely with crossfunctional internal teams, and engage directly with customers to ensure seamless integration and delivery of highquality, reliable, and scalable service solutions throughout the service lifecycle.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS
Design, specify, and implement Data & Video services at SES Gateway and Teleport locations for High Throughput satellites, Widebeam GEO satellites, MEO satellite missions, and other SES programs, following ITIL Service Design principles.
Lead and coordinate end-to-end RF service commissioning at global SES Gateway locations across internal teams and customer representatives, ensuring alignment with Service Transition processes.
Define, specify, track, and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Service Fulfilment and Service Assurance, including metrics aligned with ITIL Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
Lead Continuous Service Improvement (CSI) initiatives, analyzing performance data, identifying improvement opportunities, and monitoring remediation plans.
Design, specify, and manage integration of measurement, communications, monitoring, and control systems, including Service IoT and M&C platforms, ensuring these systems support availability, capacity, and configuration management needs.
Develop and specify building, power, and IP network infrastructure required for groundbased satellite systems, ensuring designs comply with ITIL asset and configuration management requirements.
Support ITIL-aligned operational processes, including:
Contribute to service documentation, including service design packages, technical procedures, knowledge base articles, and configuration records.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or similar preferred.
• Minimum 2 to 4 years of experience in satellite communications (NOC, Teleport Operations, or Gateway Engineering).
• Exposure to or working knowledge of ITIL-based Service Management (Foundation certification is an asset).
• Proficiency with MS Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio) required.
• Additional experience with AutoCAD and Excel VBA is an asset.
• Fluency in English (oral and written).
