Junior/Senior Engineer Scope I - Distribution / Metering & Customer Operations
Experience : 1-3 Years
Qualification : Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering
Preferred Experience / Knowledge
- Knowledge of electrical distribution systems and utility operations.
- Exposure to metering, field operations, new connections, customer service or electricity distribution will be preferred.
- Familiarity with SAP/GIS/mobile field applications will be an advantage.
Key Responsibilities
1. Field Operations & Metering
- Conduct field visits for meter reading, new connections, service-related activities and customer requests.
- Verify meter installation, meter condition, wiring, sealing and basic electrical parameters.
- Conduct site inspections and accurately record field observations, readings and technical details.
- Identify meter abnormalities, suspected tampering, unauthorized supply and other field-level exceptions.
- Prepare and submit site visit reports with photographs, readings, location details and observations.
2. Meter Reading & Bill Distribution
- Support monthly meter-reading activities as per defined schedules and service-level TATs.
- Perform manual and optical meter reading wherever required.
- Identify and report not-read, estimated, abnormal and exception cases.
- Coordinate re-reading and correction activities for exception cases.
- Support bill distribution and update POD/bill delivery status.
- Ensure assigned meter-reading activities are completed within the prescribed cycle and TAT.
3. New Connection & Service Activities
- Conduct site verification for new electricity connections.
- Verify customer/site readiness, including:
- Electrical wiring readiness
- Meter location
- RCCB/MCB
- Service cable
- Earthing
- Required documentation
- Arrears clearance, wherever applicable
- Support meter installation, replacement and service-related activities.
- Coordinate with Service, Meter Management and other internal teams for timely execution and closure.
4. Systems, Documentation & Order Closure
- Update field activities and observations in SAP, GIS and mobile applications, as applicable.
- Upload photographs, documents, readings and other required field records.
- Maintain accurate daily activity and work-status records.
- Monitor assigned work orders and ensure timely closure within defined TATs.
- Maintain proper documentation for field activities, meter-related work and customer requests.
5. Customer Coordination
- Attend and resolve basic customer queries related to metering, field visits and service activities.
- Communicate technical observations and requirements clearly and professionally to customers.
- Coordinate with customers to ensure site readiness for new connections and service activities.
- Escalate unresolved technical or commercial issues to the Senior Engineer / concerned department.
6. Safety & Compliance
- Follow all applicable electrical safety procedures, company SOPs and LSSR requirements.
- Use prescribed PPE and follow safe working practices during field activities.
- Report unsafe conditions, incidents and near misses promptly.
- Ensure work is undertaken only with the required authorization and shutdown/permit, wherever applicable.
- Comply with applicable regulatory, operational and documentation requirements.

Preferred Candidate Profile
Candidates with 1-3 years of experience in electrical distribution, metering, utility operations, field services, new connections or customer operations will be preferred. Experience with electricity distribution utilities, metering agencies or electrical service organizations will be an added advantage.
