Job summary

gevernova is seeking a systems engineer in Chennai to integrate components, manage requirements, and drive validation for complex products. The role requires hands-on testing experience and the ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams.

The candidate should have a strong background in C, C++, MATLAB and Simulink, and possess a degree in power electronics and drives and controls. Knowledge of instrumentation and customer-site interaction is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Conducts component and product integration, manages requirements and flow-downs, and drives validation and verification activities.

• Maintains configuration control across product lines and interfaces with customers as needed.
• Applies CTQ and risk trades to design decisions and supports policy/strategy knowledge expansion.
• Communicates effectively with cross-functional teams and may lead junior members.

Job Description Summary

Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users needs. The discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation.

Impacts quality of own work and the work of others on the team. Executes standard operational/technical tasks typically subject to instructions and work routines. There is latitude to rearrange the sequence to complete task/duties based on changing work situations.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

• Conducts component and product integration. All activities that span multiple components and products and are concerned with how to integrate for maximum performance and operability. Manages product and systems requirements, specifications and flow down. Drives validation and verification activities for the overall product/system, including system level testing. Responsible for defining product requirements for the module / component / subcontractors and partners teams. Manages interface between components and execution organizations.
  Responsible for driving CTQ / Risk trades within the teams designing the components. Manages the overall product configuration and configuration control system.
• Broadening knowledge of own technical discipline to execute policy/strategy. May include support roles with specialized technical field of knowledge; still acquiring higher level knowledge and skills.
• Basic understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
• May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
• A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills and may be required to lead a junior team. For customer facing roles, developers strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE. Explains technical information to others.

Required Qualifications

• For roles outside of the USA- This role requires basic experience in the Engineering/Technology & Systems Engineering. Knowledge level is comparable to a Master's/Bachelor's degree in power electronics and drives and controls from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience).
• Good understanding of C, C++, Matlab and Simulink and other engineering tools and systems . Ability and willingness to work "hands-on" in test labs and Customer sites

• Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
• Drive control, product development, control design and real time validation
