Job Summary
Candidate should be skilled CAS / Class-A Surface Modeler to join our Design Studio team. The candidate will be responsible for translating design concepts, sketches, and digital models into high-quality Class-A surfaces for two-wheeler products.
The role requires strong expertise in Autodesk Alias, excellent understanding of automotive surfacing principles, and the ability to maintain design intent while ensuring manufacturability and engineering feasibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop high-quality Class-A surfaces for exterior and interior two-wheeler components using Autodesk Alias.
- Translate 2D sketches, design concepts, and 3D references into accurate CAS/Class-A models.
- Maintain design intent, proportion, character lines, highlights, reflections, and surface continuity throughout the modeling process.
- Create and refine complex surfaces with appropriate G0, G1, G2 and G3 continuity as required.
- Conduct surface quality checks using zebra, reflection, curvature and other Alias analysis tools.
- Work closely with Industrial Designers, Design Leads, Engineering, Mechanical, CAE, Manufacturing and suppliers to resolve design and technical issues.
- Ensure the surfaces are compatible with manufacturing processes, tooling requirements, parting lines, draft, thickness and assembly requirements.
- Incorporate engineering feedback while maintaining the original design intent.
- Prepare and release Class-A surface data as per project milestones.
- Manage surface revisions and ensure timely incorporation of design changes.
- Identify potential surface, packaging and feasibility issues at an early stage and propose appropriate solutions.
- Support development of prototype and production-intent parts through surface data.
- Coordinate with engineering teams during CAD freeze, tooling and prototype development.
- Ensure accuracy and consistency of surface data across adjacent parts and complete vehicle assemblies.
- Participate in design reviews and present surfacing proposals to senior management when required.
- Maintain proper version control and documentation of released surface data.
- Continuously improve surfacing quality, modeling methodology and studio standards.
