Job summary

WSP in India is seeking a lighting design professional to work on highways, infrastructure and urban lighting projects. The role involves leading design efforts, performing site surveys, and coordinating with CAD technicians to deliver high-quality drawings in line with project timelines.

The candidate should have strong English communication, experience with Lighting Reality, Dialux, AutoCAD and Amtech, and a willingness to be seconded to the UK for up to 3 months.

Qualifications

• Proficient in lighting product software including Lighting Reality, Dialux, AutoCAD and Amtech.
• Experience designing lighting to British and EU standards.
• ILP Lighting Exterior Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Strong English communication skills and ability to work in a team.
• Willingness to be seconded to the UK for up to 3 months; home base in Noida/Bangalore.

Responsibilities

• Design lighting for highways, transport, infrastructure and residential areas.
• Conduct site surveys and desktop studies to assess existing infrastructure.
• Prepare drawings and ensure designs meet required standards and quality.
• Manage project scope, deliverables and deadlines; provide progress updates to senior staff.
• Coordinate with CAD technicians and other design team members; support sustainability objectives.

Job Description

Highly motivated individual who can work both as part of a team and individually and will be able to take on and deliver the projects.

Responsibilities

• Lighting design for: Highways including motorways, transport, infrastructure, city beautification and residential areas
• Industrial facilities, Decorative lighting projects, Sports facilities, Car parks, Amenity areas
• Site surveys/desktop study including:
  • To determine the existing infrastructure pre-design
  • Lighting assessments for environmental impact
  • Business Development including attendance at CPD events, exhibitions and seminars;
• Provide lighting design and ensure that all designs and drawings are checked to the required standards and quality.
• Ensure clear understanding of project scope and deliverables to be produced. Ensure projects are completed on time and meet prescribed project deadlines as assigned.
• Provide regular work status updates, including project progress, risks, Issues, concerns, or changes to the senior engineer/project manager. Responds to/tracks senior engineer complaints/concerns.
• Attend and contribute to team and project meetings as required. Contribute to team building and maintaining the positive team morale. Maintain focus and integrity towards the delivery of GCC's strategy. Ensure that Health & Safety is embedded into all work practices in line with company policies.
• Work in coordination with all other design team members. Coordinate with and direct CAD Technicians concerning requirements and timelines.
• Support the companies approach to sustainability.

Key Competencies / Skills:

• Good computer skills including a working knowledge of proprietary lighting, signing and electrical design programmes such as Lighting Reality, Dialux, AutoCAD, Amtech.
• Experience in lighting design to the relevant British and EU Standards.
• Experience in consultancy or development background with a bias on private sector work. Ability to seek clarity of instructions, check own work before submitting for approval, agree and meet timescales for items of work.
• Completion or part completion of the ILP’s Lighting Exterior Lighting Diploma or equivalent.
• Understanding of relevant standards and legislation including Health & Safety.
• Sound knowledge of British standards and manuals.
• Awareness of UK local authority specifications.
• Experience in coordinating with multi-offices and multi-discipline projects.
• Meet appropriate service/design decisions.
• Inform more senior staff and peers of important and relevant service/design decisions, assert that the objectives of the company and the client are being achieved.
• Coordinating his/her work with other members of the project team.
• Prepare and take responsibility for concept and preliminary engineering solutions for detail design.
• Computer literate, with experience of appropriate modelling software or equivalent Excel spreadsheet calculations.
• Good English communication skills are essential.
• The candidate must have a valid passport and be prepared to be seconded for up to 3 months in the UK as projects dictate. The home base for the candidate will be Noida/Bangalore.

Desired Skills:

• Experience of undertaking lighting impact assessments and traffic sign design would also be ideal.
