Job summary

Unitile is looking for a Quality Engineer for their Umbargaon location. The ideal candidate will manage the quality and lab team, handling inspections, testing, and ensuring compliance with international standards. The role calls for a strong degree in mechanical engineering and at least three years in quality control ensuring only the highest standards in product development and vendor assessments.

We seek someone with strong problem-solving and communication skills, ready to enhance QC workflows and maintain ISO standards.

Qualifications

Quality Engineer (Full Time Role)

Location: Umbergaon, India

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise the quality and lab team for day‑to‑day operations and activities.
• Provide support for new product development by establishing QC checks and testing for verification and validation.
• Vendor assessment and development: conduct inspections, testing (if any) and trials/mock‑ups for new and existing products and provide QC feedback reports.
• Transfer new manufacturing practices and processes: execute inspections, testing (if any) and trials/mock‑ups and provide QC feedback reports with pros and cons.
• Ensure 100 % incoming inspection for raw materials and bought‑out items.
• Ensure effective in‑process inspection on a daily basis and at regular intervals; immediately report non‑conformities to stakeholders and facilitate concurrent resolution.
• Ensure 100 % PDI inspection for scheduled dispatches on a daily basis for both export and domestic.
• Carry out regular lab operations efficiently and timely, including daily tile testing, mock‑ups and yearly testing of raw materials and bought‑out items.
• Ensure 100 % MTC against every scheduled invoice and upload the same in the milestone daily.
• Conduct third‑party tests as per international standards.
• Raise NCR for non‑conformance observed in receipt of goods or on the production line and inform suppliers, procurement and operations teams promptly.
• Resolve customer complaints using root cause analysis and implement corrective actions based on received complaints.
• Conduct inter‑department audits of documentation on a monthly basis, independently or with an internal auditor.
• Maintain and improve the Integrated Management System (ISO9001‑2015, ISO14001‑2015, ISO45001‑2018, IGBC, SGBC) and other quality improvement tools such as 5S, Kanban, Kaizen and 7 QC tools; keep all calibrations and load cells up to date.
• Maintain and update documents, including inspection reports, test reports, QAPs, SOPs, MOMs, MRM PPTs, compliance statements, audit reports, ISO reports, customer complaints (TADS), product TDS, technical specifications, material specifications and product TDC, ensuring they are current and properly revised.
• Develop ISO9001, EMS14001 and OHSAS45001 documentation.
• Initiate innovative and additional goals to enhance the QC‑lab workflow, submit ideas and implement initiatives.
• Perform any other reasonable duties required by management from time to time.
