Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

Accountabilities

• Development and delivery of high‑quality software solutions by using industry‑aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools.
• Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimised for performance.
• Cross‑functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
• Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organisation’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
• Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
• Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability and reliability.

Technical Responsibilities / Eligibility

• Strong expertise in Oracle Database administration.
• Hands‑on experience in RDBMS, PL/SQL programming; Stored Procedures, Functions, Packages, Triggers; Indexing strategies (creation, optimisation, performance tuning).
• Strong knowledge of SQL query optimisation and performance tuning.
• Experience in database design, schema management, and data modelling.
• Ability to analyse and resolve application‑level database performance issues.
• Experience in supporting application releases and database deployments.
• Understanding of data integrity, security and availability concepts.
• Exposure to backup and recovery processes.

Highly Valued Skills

• Exposure to AI / Machine Learning concepts.
• Experience or awareness of Generative AI (Gen AI) technologies.
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB).
• Familiarity with cloud database platforms.
• Experience with performance monitoring tools (AWR, OEM, etc.).
• Basic shell scripting knowledge.
• Knowledge of DB2, Teradata.
• Knowledge about Service‑Now change management system.
• Knowledge of Java programming.
