Responsibilities

• Technical Support: prepare specifications and drawings, coordinate with QA for testing and certification.
• Continuous Improvement: monitor textile technology developments and participate in Lean initiatives.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly motivated Category Development Engineer to support the development, industrialization and commercialization of advanced synthetic rope, lifting, marine and technical textile products. The role will work closely with the Product [Head and cross-functional teams across Production, Quality Assurance, Global Procurement, Engineering and Global Sales to accelerate new product development, improve manufacturing capability and strengthen the vendor ecosystem. This position is intended to serve as the foundation for a structured engineering talent pipeline while providing direct technical support for strategic product initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

New Product Development

• Assist in the development and industrialization of new tensile products.
• Translate customer requirements into manufacturable product solutions.
• Participate in prototype development, pilot production and production trials.
• Support product validation, testing and documentation.

Manufacturing & Process Engineering

• Optimize machine settings, production parameters and manufacturing processes.
• Troubleshoot issues related to braiding, twisting, heat setting, coating and textile fabrication.
• Improve productivity, consistency and product quality through process optimization.
• Maintain manufacturing documentation and process standards.
• Build relationships with subcontractors and specialized fabricators.
• Evaluate new materials and manufacturing technologies.

Technical Support

• Support Sales and Category teams in evaluating customer requirements.
• Prepare technical documentation, specifications and manufacturing drawings.
• Coordinate with QA for product testing and certification.
• Assist in competitive benchmarking and reverse engineering of samples

Continuous Improvement

• Monitor developments in fibres, polymers, coatings and textile manufacturing technologies.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvements.
• Participate in Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen initiatives.

Desired Technical Skills

• Strong understanding of textile manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of rope constructions, braiding, twisting and synthetic fibre processing.
• Understanding of process methodology, machine settings and production optimization.
• Knowledge of HMPE, Polyester, Nylon, Polypropylene and Aramid materials is preferred
• Experience with textile methods including stitching, weaving , splicing, non woven
• Ability to prepare manufacturing drawings and technical documentation.

Desired Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Textile or Chemical Engineering OR B.Sc. Textile Technology (or equivalent).
• 27 years of relevant experience in Technical Textiles, Rope Manufacturing, Synthetic Fibre Processing, Industrial Fabrics, Netting or Webbing.

Preferred Candidate Profile

• Resident of Indore or willing to relocate.
• Hands-on shop-floor approach with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• Established network with textile machinery suppliers, raw material vendors and fabrication subcontractors is desirable.
• Comfortable working across Production, Procurement, QA and Commercial functions.
