Job summary

Kp Energy is seeking an Wind O&M Technician/Engineer (BOP & PSS) in Bhuj, Gujarat, India. The role requires 2–8 years of experience and ITI or Diploma in Electrical Engineering. You will perform daily rounds, preventive maintenance, fault troubleshooting, and reporting to ensure reliable wind turbine operation.

Responsibilities include monitoring SCADA, checking BOP and PSS systems, and maintaining safety procedures to prevent downtime. Completion of PTW and LOTO as required is essential.

Qualifications

• ITI or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 2–8 years of experience in wind O&M or similar electrical maintenance roles.

• Monitor turbine SCADA status and generation trends against wind resources.
• Perform preventive maintenance on HT/LT panels, transformers, breakers and cables.
• Troubleshoot faults, obtain exact SCADA fault code, and document downtime and corrective actions.

Role & responsibilities

Wind O&M Technician , Engineer, Sr. Engineer (BOP & PSS) -

Experience: 2-8 years
Qualification: ITI / Diploma - Electrical

Daily Rounds

• Check turbine SCADA status and generation trend vs wind resource
• BOP equipment (transformers, switchgear, cables) - visual + audible checks
• PSS (Power Substation) equipment: transformer oil temp/level, breaker status, relay indications
• Note any tripped feeder/breaker and reason before resetting

Preventive Maintenance

• HT/LT panel PM: tightness checks, cleaning, thermography
• Transformer PM: oil sampling (as per schedule), Buchholz relay check, breather silica gel condition
• Breaker PM: contact resistance, mechanism greasing, trip/close timing test
• Cable trench/pit inspection for water ingress or damage

Fault Troubleshooting & Restoration

• Get exact fault code/alarm from SCADA before dispatch
• Common BOP faults: cable faults, transformer protection trips, breaker mechanism failure
• Restore only after root cause is identified - don't just reset and walk away
• Document downtime, cause and corrective action for MIS/reporting

Reporting

• Daily generation report, downtime log and PM/BM records - update without delay
• Escalate repeat faults immediately (pattern = bigger issue brewing)

Safety

• PTW mandatory for HT equipment work
• LOTO on all isolation points, verify zero energy state before touching
• Confirm switching sequence with control room before any operation
• Never enter PSS switchyard without authorization and proper PPE
