Responsibilities

Job description

The Founders Finance is a Bangalore-based finance partner for founder-led businesses that have outgrown spreadsheets. The team runs Virtual CFO, Accounting and Taxation, Fundraising, Company Secretarial and Advisory functions for companies across consumer and D2C, food and beverage, fashion, SaaS and financial services, working to a disciplined monthly rhythm rather than year-end scrambles. Clients get their books closed early in the month, a clear read on their cash runway, and a compliance calendar where nothing slips through. It's a small, senior-heavy team by design, so founders work directly with people who understand both the numbers and the business behind them.

About the Role

As an Engagement Manager, you own the client relationship. You're the person founders trust to know their numbers, spot problems early and keep every deliverable on time. You'll run a portfolio of clients end to end, from monthly closings and compliance to the conversations that shape their financial decisions.

Roles and Responsibilities

• 1. Own a portfolio of client engagements end to end, and act as the primary point of contact for founders and their teams
• 2. Deliver accounting, taxation, compliance and financial reporting services to clients on a disciplined monthly rhythm
• 3. Gather information and data from clients' finance managers, teams and other sources, and make sure it's complete, accurate and on time
• 4. Review books, reconciliations, MIS and P&Ls prepared by the team, and ensure quality before they reach the client
• 5. Present monthly performance, cash flow and key insights to founders, and advise on the actions that matter
• 6. Track compliance calendars (GST, TDS and other statutory deadlines) so nothing slips through
• 7. Guide and review the work of associates on your engagements, and help raise the quality bar across the team
• 8. Spot opportunities to expand services with existing clients, such as Virtual CFO, fundraising support and advisory
• 9. Manage timelines, deliverables and client expectations across multiple engagements at once

Requirements

• 1. CA Qualified (must)
• 2. 5+ years of experience in accounting, finance operations or client-facing finance services
• 3. Strong working knowledge of Tally (ERP 9 / Prime)
• 4. Solid understanding of GST, TDS and tax compliance
• 5. Strong Excel skills and experience in MIS and financial reporting
• 6. Proven ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines, and to review the work of others
• 7. Excellent communication, with the confidence to work directly with founders and senior stakeholders
• 8. Strong ownership, judgment and attention to detail

Good to Have

• 1. Experience working with or inside startups (preferred)
• 2. Familiarity with other accounting software such as Zoho or QuickBooks
• 3. Exposure to FP&A, fundraising support or investor reporting
• 4. Exposure to D2C, e-commerce, F&B, SaaS or financial services clients
• 5. Experience in a CA firm, advisory firm or virtual CFO setup
