GE Vernova is seeking an embedded software test engineer with 3+ years of experience in substation automation and SCADA protocols to design, validate, and test firmware for control devices. You will work across teams to ensure quality and reliability of software that interacts with industrial hardware.
The role requires strong communication, ability to adapt to change, and hands-on experience with test automation frameworks and scripting tools. Relocation support may be provided as needed.
Responsible for designing, developing and testing Embedded Software (Firmware), platforms and systems that control and run on devices that need to be tailored to the needs of the hardware that it has to control and run on (i.e. directly controls the real time functions of a physical device such as motors, alternators, engines, valves, fans, and other devices and products). Typically requires a deep understanding of the characteristics of the physical device being controlled, the real time functions it is expected to perform and the ability to design, develop, implement, and test the logic and software required to realize the real time functionality. Usually tailored for products and services across various P&Ls. Accountable for the quality of own work. Subject to direct operations supervision/prescribed work instructions/systems checking. Executes within a well-defined operations framework. There is generally a step by step sequence of standard operational tasks which need to be followed to achieve an end result.
