Job summary

Gateway Search is seeking an senior Embedded Systems leader to drive the design and development of mission-critical systems for Defense, Aerospace, and Satellite Communication applications. You will lead cross-functional engineering teams through end-to-end product development, including requirements, coding, integration, testing, and documentation.

The role requires extensive hands-on experience with Embedded C, FPGA RTL (Verilog/VHDL), and ARM microcontrollers, with knowledge of UART,

Qualifications

• 10–15+ years of embedded systems, FPGA, and DSP product development experience.
• Strong programming and debugging in Embedded C.
• Hands-on FPGA RTL design with Verilog or VHDL.
• Experience with ARM-based 8/16/32-bit MCUs.
• Proficiency with UART, Ethernet, SPI, CAN, I2C, I2S, ADC, DAC.
• SDLC understanding and real-time DSP or digital comms knowledge.
• Ability to produce technical docs per IEEE 1220.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of embedded systems for Defense, Aerospace, Satellite comms.
• Drive end-to-end embedded product development and lead cross-functional teams.
• Provide technical leadership across Embedded Systems, FPGA, and DSP.
• Oversee requirements, coding, integration, testing, validation, and documentation.
• Mentor Embedded, FPGA, Hardware, DSP, and Testing teams.
• Review architectures, software, FPGA, coding standards, and test strategies.
• Coordinate with Hardware, System Engineering, and Project teams for execution.
• Monitor timelines, risks, dependencies, and deliverables.
• Ensure IEEE 1220 compliance and aerospace/defense practices.
• Conduct reviews, customer interactions, and solution presentations.
• Support prototyping, integration, field testing, validation, and certification.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across Embedded Systems, FPGA, and DSP development.
• Lead the complete embedded product development lifecycle:
  • Requirements analysis
  • Coding
  • Integration
  • Testing & validation
  • Documentation
• Manage and mentor Embedded, FPGA, Hardware, DSP, and Testing teams.
• Review system architecture, embedded software design, FPGA implementation, coding standards, and test strategies.
• Collaborate with Hardware, System Engineering, and Project teams for successful execution.
• Monitor project timelines, technical risks, dependencies, and deliverables.
• Ensure compliance with IEEE 1220, internal quality standards, and Aerospace/Defense engineering practices.
• Conduct technical reviews, design discussions, customer interactions, and solution presentations.
• Support prototyping, system integration, field testing, product validation, and certification activities.

Mandatory Technical Skills

• 10–15+ years of experience in Embedded Systems, FPGA, and DSP-based product development.
• Strong programming and debugging expertise in Embedded C.
• Hands-on FPGA RTL design using Verilog and/or VHDL.
• Strong knowledge of ARM-based 8/16/32-bit microcontrollers.
• Hands-on experience with:
