Job summary

PTech Soft seeks an experienced Embedded Systems Engineer with 7+ years in firmware development. You will design and implement robust software for embedded devices, focusing on bootloaders, secure update mechanisms, and real-time performance on diverse MCU families.

You will define and implement communication protocols (UART, I2C, SPI, USB, CAN, Ethernet) and contribute to OTA firmware updates, debugging with JTAG/SWD, and unit/HIL testing using MPLAB X IDE, MPLAB Harmony, and IAR Embedded

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in embedded systems development.
• Strong knowledge of MCU architectures (STM32, NXP iMX6/8, 1062B).
• Experience with Linux/RTOS-based and bare-metal firmware development.
• Bootloader design and secure firmware update mechanisms.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement firmware for embedded devices, including bootloaders and secure update mechanisms.
• Develop and implement communication protocols (UART, I2C, SPI, USB, CAN, Ethernet) and OTA updates.
• Debug and test using JTAG/SWD and serial debuggers; perform unit and HIL testing.
• Utilize tools such as MPLAB X IDE, MPLAB Harmony, and IAR Embedded Workbench for development and debugging.

Job description

1. Embedded Systems Development with 7+ years of experience

• Extensive experience in C and C++ programming for embedded systems.
• Strong knowledge of microcontroller architectures, specifically STM32,NXP iMX6/8,1062B
• Experience with LINUX/RTOS-based and bare-metal firmware development.

2. Bootloader Design and Implementation

• Proven experience developing custom bootloaders for embedded devices.
• Strong understanding of firmware update mechanisms (USB, UART, I2C, SPI, CAN, Ethernet).
• Knowledge of secure boot mechanisms, including authentication, encryption, and rollback protection.
• Experience in memory management and Flash programming (NVM, EEPROM, external flash).

3. Firmware Communication Protocols

• Proficiency in designing and implementing communication protocols such as:
• UART, I2C, SPI, USB, CAN, and Ethernet
• Custom firmware update protocols
• Experience working with wireless firmware updates (OTA) is a plus.

4. Debugging and Testing

• Strong debugging skills using JTAG, SWD, and serial debuggers.
• Experience with unit testing and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing.
• Proficiency in tools like Microchip MPLAB X IDE, MPLAB Harmony, and IAR Embedded Workbench.
