Whirlpool in Puducherry, India, is seeking an experienced embedded firmware engineer to design, develop, and test low‑level firmware for bare‑metal and FreeRTOS platforms. You will work on MCU peripherals, drivers, and hardware bring‑up.
The ideal candidate has 3+ years of hands‑on experience in embedded projects, proficiency in C/C++/Python, and familiarity with STM32 or similar MCUs, UART/SPI/I2C/CAN, and lab tools for debug and validation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Firmware Development: Design, write, and test low-level firmware in Embedded C for bare-metal architectures and Real-Time Operating Systems (FreeRTOS).
Peripheral Drivers: Develop and maintain low-level drivers and Board Support Packages (BSP) for timers, ADC/DAC, DMA, GPIO, and external Flash/EEPROM.
Wired Protocols: Implement, configure, and troubleshoot wired serial and fieldbus interfaces including UART, SPI, I2C, and CAN / RS-485.
Hardware Bring-Up: Lab Debugging: Bring up prototype boards and troubleshoot firmware-hardware issues using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and JTAG/SWD debuggers.
Hardware Collaboration: Review hardware schematics, pinout mappings, and semiconductor datasheets in close collaboration with hardware design engineers.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (MUST HAVE):
Experience: Minimum 3 years of hands‑on professional experience in embedded firmware development.
Core Programming: Proficient in software development skills (C/C++/Python/...)
Target Microcontrollers: Demonstrated hands‑on experience with at least one major MCU family: STMicroelectronics (STM32), NXP (LPC, Kinetis, S32K), or Renesas (RA, RX, RL78).
Communication Interfaces: Direct experience configuring and debugging wired buses: UART/USART, SPI, I2C, and CAN.
OS &Execution Models: Practical understanding of RTOS concepts (FreeRTOS tasks, queues, semaphores, mutexes) and bare‑metal superloops.
Lab Instrumentation:
Hands‑on experience using in‑circuit debuggers (J-Link, ST-Link, E2) and diagnostic
tools (logic analyzers, digital oscilloscopes).
Education:
Bachelor degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE),
Electrical & Electronics Engineering, (EEE),
Computer Engineering, or related technical field.
