About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Embedded Linux Firmware Engineer to join a high-performance engineering team developing next-generation camera and video-based products. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Embedded Linux, multimedia frameworks, camera pipelines, and real-time system optimization. The role involves working across the complete video processing stack, from image capture and encoding to streaming and storage solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Embedded Linux firmware for camera and video-enabled products.
- Perform Linux BSP bring-up, system programming, kernel-level debugging, and platform integration.
- Develop and optimize camera processing pipelines, including Sensor, ISP, Encoder, Streaming, and Storage components.
- Integrate multimedia frameworks, video/audio codecs, and streaming technologies.
- Analyze and optimize system performance, memory utilization, latency, and overall stability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve firmware issues observed during development, testing, and production deployments.
- Collaborate closely with hardware, cloud, mobile application, and quality engineering teams to ensure successful product delivery.
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and architecture decisions.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation for firmware components and system integration activities.
Required Skills
Core Technical Skills
- Strong programming skills in C/C++.
- Extensive experience in Embedded Linux system programming.
- Hands-on experience with camera, video, or multimedia-based products.
- Strong understanding of Linux internals, device drivers, and system-level debugging.
- Experience with networking protocols such as:
Multimedia & Video Technologies
- Experience with multimedia frameworks such as:
- GStreamer
- FFmpeg (preferred)
- Strong understanding of video and audio codecs:
- Knowledge of video streaming, recording, and storage architectures.
Hardware & Interfaces
- Experience working with embedded interfaces such as:
- Familiarity with camera-focused SoC platforms and SDKs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Embedded Systems, or a related engineering discipline.
- 5–7 years of experience in Embedded Software/Firmware Development.
- Experience working with Linux, Unix, and/or RTOS platforms.
- Strong understanding of embedded systems architecture and real-time operating systems.
- Good knowledge of IP protocols, hardware interfaces, and embedded hardware subsystems.
- Experience developing software for multitasking and pre-emptive embedded environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in smart camera, surveillance, video analytics, IoT, or edge-device ecosystems.
- Familiarity with image processing pipelines and ISP tuning concepts.
- Exposure to secure firmware development and OTA update mechanisms.
- Experience working in Agile development environments.
