Job summary

RGBSI seeks an experienced engineer to lead alternate/electromechanical components qualification, testing and evaluation. You will identify second sources to improve material availability and reduce costs, and provide detailed component comparisons to support self-driven decision making.

Responsibilities include reviewing datasheets, enabling BOM management, and collaborating with manufacturing and supply chain to resolve related issues; drive reliability improvements through DFMEA inputs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Engineering with 4–12 years in Electrical/EM components.
• Experience in alternate component qualification, testing and evaluation.
• Ability to identify second sources and support cost reduction.
• Familiarity with BOM management and industry standards (RoHS/UL/IPC).

Responsibilities

• Identify and qualify alternate/replacement electrical/electromechanical parts.
• Lead efforts to qualify second sources for material availability and reliability.
• Perform alternate component search and provide detailed comparison reports.
• Suggest form-fit-functional alternates for risk or sole-source components.
• Provide inputs on components to improve product reliability in DFMEA reviews.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing and Supply Chain to resolve component issues.
• Own component evaluation and guide team on specification issues.

Job description

Eligibility Criteria:

• Bachelor’s in Engineering with minimum 4 to 12 years of experience in Electrical/ Electromechanical, component engineering alternate parts component qualification, testing and evaluation.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Identify and perform Electrical, Electronics and Electromechanical alternate/replacement parts qualification, testing and validation
• Initiate and lead efforts to identify and qualify second sources for material availability, cost reduction and reliability improvement.
• Perform Alternate component search and provide a detailed Component comparison report and should be a self-decision maker on component attributes.
• Suggestion of Form Fit Functional alternates for Risk / Sole source or single source components.
• Provide inputs on component selection to new designs to improve product reliability by participating in design reviews and DFMEA.
• Liaise with Manufacturing and supply chain and work on Component related problem reports in solving and implementing.
• Own the completed component evaluation, guide team on component related specification issues in finding solutions.

Mandatory Skills:

• Understanding of end to end parameters of Electrical/ Electromechanical components such as Passive, Discrete, Integrated circuits, Connectors, Cables, Fuses, Relays, Switches, RF generators, Sensors, Adapters/Filters, Cable Assemblies and all other PCBA Components etc.
• Expert knowledge in Electrical component parameters and it’s significant impact on product performance.
• Review and interpret component data sheets and its significance on product performance
• Dealing with uncertainty during testing of alternate/replacement components

Desirable Skills:

• Knowledge of BOM Management tools like Silicon Expert and IHS
• Experience with PLM, Library management and Various Industry standards such RoHS, REACH, UL, CE, CSA, IPC, SEMI etc.
• Experience with documentation standards.
• Knowledge of schematic, PCB (Printed Circuit Board) developmentandmechanical component evaluation
• Familiarity with manufacturing and Design environments
