Qualifications

• B.Tech Electrical & Electronics Engineer graduate with 7–15 years in thermal power plant electrical systems.
• Extensive experience with 400 kV switchyard operations and HT/LT protection schemes.
• Proficient in relay testing, protection settings, and commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Preventive and corrective maintenance of 400 kV switchyard equipment and bus-bars.
• Grid and DG-based power restoration and synchronization management.
• Transformer maintenance including GT/UAT/auxiliary units; oil sampling and DGA.
• BTG electrical systems: MV/LV switchgear, motors, relays, and wiring protection.
• Safety disciplines: PTW/LOTO enforcement, HIRA, risk mitigation.
• Reporting: daily energy and OCC/MVAR summaries; preventive maintenance schedules.

Job Role

Electrical Maintenance Manager - 400kV Switchyard / HT and LT switchgear

Role & responsibilities

Switchyard Operations & Maintenance:

• Preventive and corrective maintenance of 400 kV switchyard equipment breakers, CTs, CVTs, isolators, surge arrestors, and bus-bar systems.
• Power restoration during blackouts via Grid and DG sets; management of grid and TG synchronization activities.
• Maintenance of Solar IDTs including erection, commissioning.

Transformer Maintenance:

• Condition monitoring and overhauling of Generator Transformers (GT), Unit Auxiliary Transformers (UAT), and auxiliary transformers.
• Oil sampling, DGA analysis interpretation, IR & Pl testing, and thermography for transformer health assessment.

BTG Electrical Systems:

• Operation and maintenance of MV/LV switchgear rooms incomer panels from UAT, area MV panels (ABB, Siemens), LV pane's (Schneider), and MCC panels for Boiler & Turbine auxiliaries.
• Inspection, testing, and maintenance of HT/LT motors, VCBs, ACBs, relay protection systems, and control circuit wiring.
• Relay testing, protection setting monitoring, and modification using PCM 600, DIGSI 4.82, and EnerVista tools.

Safety & Compliance:

• Strict enforcement of PTW (Permit-to-Work) and LOTO protocols ensuring zero accident/incident culture during all maintenance activities.
• Responsible for Hazard Identification and Risk Analysis (HIRA) and risk mitigation planning for all high-voltage activities.

Reporting & Documentation:

• Preparation of daily energy reports, OCC and MVAR reports, and monthly performance summaries.
• Development and execution of preventive maintenance schedules, checklists, and improvement action plans.

Functional Competencies

• Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of EHV/HV switchyard equipment, protection relays, transformer maintenance, and BTG area electrical systems for reliable plant operation.
• Diagnostic Proficiency: Skilled in analyzing IR, Pl, DGA, vibration, and thermography data to predict failures and plan proactive maintenance interventions.
• Digital Tool Proficiency: Hands-on experience with PCM 600, DIGSI 4.82, Enervista, Vinplus, and Smart Grid platforms for relay configuration and energy monitoring.

Preferred candidate profile

B.Tech Electrical & Electronics Engineer graduate with 7-15 Yrs experience in Thermal Power Plant electrical systems.

• Extensive experience in 400kV switchyard operations, maintenance of CTs, CVTs, Isolators, Circuit Breakers, and Bus-bar systems.
• Strong background in erection, commissioning, and of Generator Transformers and auxiliary dry-type/oil-type transformers.
• Proficiency with relay testing and protection systems ABB REF series, Schneider SEPAM, Siemens SIPROTEC, DIGSI, PCM 600.
• Demonstrated expertise in BTG area electrical maintenance including HT/LT motor drives, MCC anels, and breaker maintenance.
