Job summary

CRA designs and manufactures custom-engineered systems for the Energy and Defence sectors. We are seeking an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer/Associate Design Engineer to support instrumentation engineering, technical documentation, and drawings for industrial projects.

You will review P&IDs, prepare datasheets, and develop wiring/loop diagrams, working with field instruments and valves. The role requires AutoCAD proficiency, basic PLC programming knowledge

Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech in Instrumentation & Control Engineering or Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering.
• 4–7 years of relevant experience in instrumentation engineering or instrumentation design.
• Experience in the Oil & Gas industry is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret P&ID drawings and prepare instrumentation documentation.
• Prepare instrument datasheets, indexes, and related engineering documents.
• Prepare electrical and instrumentation drawings including SLDs, cable block diagrams, and instrument loop diagrams.
• Prepare and interpret instrument installation and hook-up drawings.
• Use AutoCAD to prepare and modify engineering drawings.
• Work with field instruments (pressure gauges, transmitters, RTDs) and valves.
• Basic PLC programming knowledge (Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider) for control apps.
• Support site activities for instrument installation and commissioning.
• Travel to project sites up to 60% for site visits and commissioning.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer / Associate Design Engineer to support instrumentation engineering, technical documentation, and electrical and instrumentation drawing preparation for industrial projects. The role involves reviewing P&IDs, preparing instrument datasheets and indexes, developing wiring and loop diagrams, and working with field instruments and valves. The candidate should have good working knowledge of AutoCAD, a basic understanding of PLC programming, and a willingness to support site visits and project commissioning activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and interpret P&ID drawings.
• Prepare and review instrumentation documentation, including Instrument Datasheets, Instrument Index, and related engineering documents.
• Prepare electrical and instrumentation drawings, including Single-Line Diagrams (SLDs), Cable Block Diagrams, and Instrument Loop Diagrams.
• Prepare and interpret instrument installation and hook-up drawings.
• Use AutoCAD to prepare and modify engineering drawings.
• Work with field instruments, including Pressure Gauges, Pressure Transmitters, Temperature Transmitters, Flowmeters, Thermocouples, and RTDs.
• Understand different types of valves, including Ball Valves, Gate Valves, Butterfly Valves, Pneumatic-Operated Valves, and Motorized Valves.
• Apply basic PLC programming knowledge using platforms such as Siemens, Rockwell, or Schneider.
• Support site activities related to instrument installation and project commissioning.
• Understand the basic requirements of weatherproof and flameproof instruments.
• Travel to project sites for site visits and commissioning activities as required, with travel of up to 60%.

Requirements

Qualification

• B.E. / B.Tech in Instrumentation & Control Engineering or Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering.
  

Experience

• 4–7 years of relevant experience in instrumentation engineering or instrumentation design.
• Experience in the Oil & Gas industry is preferred.

Other Requirements

• Good working knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Ability to prepare and interpret instrumentation engineering drawings and documentation.
• Practical understanding of field instruments and industrial valves.
• Basic knowledge of PLC programming, preferably Siemens, Rockwell, or Schneider.
• Basic understanding of weatherproof and flameproof instrumentation.
• Willingness to travel for site visits and project commissioning activities, as required.
