Job summary

Rolls-Royce plc in Pune is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer for Power Generation to design and draft wiring harnesses, control panels, and schematics for Genset systems using AutoCAD/BricsCAD. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 4–6 years of experience in power generation.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical design, PLC architecture, switchgear, generators, and wiring standards.

Responsibilities

  • Design and draft wiring harnesses and control panels for Genset systems.
  • Prepare schematic drawings and layouts, SLDs, and 3D cabling.
  • Ensure compliance with global standards (IEC/ANSI/ NFPA/BSI/CENELEC) and select components.
  • Collaborate with technical architects and stake holders across a global team.
  • Document processes and manage multiple priorities; travel to USA for projects if required.

Summary: This role focuses on designing and drafting electrical wiring harnesses, control panels, and schematic drawings for generator (Genset) systems using AutoCAD/BricsCAD. It requires strong knowledge of electrical design, PLC architecture, switchgear, generators, wiring standards and component selection, preferably with experience in the power generation industry. The position also involves collaborating with technical architects, documenting processes, solving engineering problems, and managing multiple priorities in a global team environment.

Required Skills Expertise in AutoCAD/BricsCAD, Creo cabling & Schematics in the areas of control panel design and wiring harness within Genset system design. Knowledge of ERP systems, preferably SAP and Windchill.

Role Requirements Design and drafting of Wiring harness and control panel layout in Genset system. Control panel and Genset system schematic drawings, layout and SLD’s. Should possess knowledge in the wiring harness standards for design & Development according to respective regional requirement. Knowhow of GLOBAL standards (e.g. IEC, ANSI, NFPA, BSI and CENELEC), Switchgear and component selection, type characteristic of the components. Experience with AutoCad/BricsCad in electrical design at least 4 yrs is desired. Design knowledge of Electrical schematics, Controls & PLC architecture & panel design preferably from Power Generation industry. AutoCAD/BricsCAD - Basic knowledge & functioning, Block modification, Template modifications, knowledge of OLE objects, View port and layout creation. Creo Cabling & Creo Schematics – Hands on experience for schematics preparation and 3D cabling will be an added advantage. Knowledge about Diesel, Gas Engines, Gensets & peripheral devices. Knowledge of selection and coordination of relays, contactors, fuses, transformers and cable sizes of the electrical system with calculations. Knowledge of selection of wire sizes, terminals and connectors. Required knowledge of Generator, Switchgear and ATS as well as selection of component in accordance with Electrical duty cycle. Work closely with the Technical Architect to support the transition of functional design into technical design. Analyze, document and communicate end to end process documentation to stake holders. An ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking. Effective working individually and within global team environments. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities. Willingness to travel (USA) for project assignments as required.
