Job summary

Arup is seeking an Electrical Engineer to lead design calculations, drawings and specifications for data centre projects within a focused market team. You will supervise CAD/BIM staff and coordinate with internal disciplines and external stakeholders, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.

Based in Mumbai, you will engage with clients and professionals across India, travelling as needed to deliver projects and meet tight deadlines under senior leadership guidance.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) with professional qualification or chartered status.
• 6+ years’ experience; data centre or mission-critical experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of local/international electrical codes, data centre standards and safety requirements.
• Proven ability to produce electrical designs, calculations, specifications and plant layouts for BIM.
• Hands-on experience with ETAP, Amtech, Dialux, Revit and AutoCAD; strong mentoring skills.

Responsibilities

• Produce design calculations, drawings, specifications, tender documents and feasibility studies.
• Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams and supervise engineers and CAD/BIM staff.
• Liaise with internal disciplines and external stakeholders; represent electrical discipline in meetings.
• Involvement in FATs, site inspections, commissioning, BOQs and cost estimates.
• Manage multiple projects independently; ensure timely delivery within cost and quality constraints.

The Opportunity

As an Electrical Engineer you will play a key role within the Focus Market team, delivering data centre projects as part of a multi‑disciplinary team. You will manage and coordinate the production of design calculations, drawings, specifications, tender documents, and feasibility studies, ensuring timely delivery within agreed cost and quality constraints. Working with a high degree of autonomy, you will supervise engineers, CAD/BIM staff, and graduates, liaise with internal disciplines and external stakeholders, and represent the electrical discipline in project meetings. The role requires a relevant degree, professional qualification, and involvement in innovative design development under the technical guidance of senior leadership.

We Are Looking For Individuals Who

• Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent), professionally qualified/chartered or aspiring to registration, with 6+ years’ experience; data centre or mission‑critical experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of local and international codes, data centre standards, fire and authority requirements
• Proven capability in producing electrical designs, calculations, specifications, plant room layouts, schematics, and hand sketches for BIM
• Hands‑on experience with engineering tools such as ETAP, Amtech, Dialux, Revit, and AutoCAD
• Experience in concept development, sustainability‑led design, multi‑disciplinary coordination, and supervision/mentoring of junior staff.
• Involvement in FATs, site inspections, commissioning, BOQs, cost estimates, and successful project delivery.
• Ability to manage multiple projects independently, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines with excellent communication skills.
• Based primarily in Mumbai with collaboration across India, international travel, and strong engagement with clients and industry stakeholders.
