Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.

• Proficiency in electrical design software and CAD tools with strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical system designs and detailed engineering deliverables for industrial projects and substations, including single-line diagrams, layouts, cable sizing, and equipment specifications.
• Perform calculations, prepare design documents, review drawings, and ensure compliance with relevant codes and client requirements.
• Coordinate with project managers, other engineering disciplines, and external stakeholders; support technical reviews and design optimization; resolve site or project issues.
• Contribute to training materials or sessions to support educational offerings.

The team has deep experience in AIS/GIS substations up to 400 kV and industrial electrical system design up to 150 MVA, 220 kV power systems. Consultants have worked with major oil and gas EPC and operating companies such as Worley, Kent, Tata Projects, Penspen, Saudi Aramco, QatarEnergy, ADNOC, Dolphin Energy, and Reliance Industries across India, Japan, and the Middle East. The institute offers one-to-one courses in electrical system design and detailed engineering, high-voltage substation design, and protection and control, and has trained over 350 engineers globally. In addition to training, Electrocity delivers electrical engineering services for industrial projects up to 220 kV.

Role Description

The Electrical Design Engineer role is a full-time, on-site position based in Tiruvalla. The engineer will develop electrical system designs and detailed engineering deliverables for industrial projects and substations, including single-line diagrams, layouts, cable sizing, and equipment specifications. Daily responsibilities include performing calculations, preparing design documents, reviewing drawings, and ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and client requirements. The role involves coordinating with project managers, other engineering disciplines, and external stakeholders, as well as supporting technical reviews, design optimization, and resolution of site or project issues. The engineer may also contribute to training materials or sessions, sharing practical design insights to support the institute’s educational offerings.

• Candidates should possess solid Design Engineering capabilities for industrial and substation projects.
• Candidates should possess practical knowledge of Electricity and Power Distribution systems.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Experience in high-voltage/extra high-voltage substation or industrial power system design is highly beneficial.
• Familiarity with relevant IEC/IEEE standards, protection and control schemes, and grid codes.
• Proficiency in electrical design software and CAD tools, with strong attention to detail and documentation quality.
• Effective communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work on-site in Tiruvalla.
