Job summary

Andritz is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer in Chennai to develop electrical system designs, wiring diagrams, and floor plans for commercial and industrial projects. You will coordinate with architects to ensure adherence to codes, select materials, and perform calculations to optimize designs.

The role requires a BE in Electrical Engineering with 4–8 years of experience and proficiency in AutoCAD; COMOS is advantageous. Knowledge of ISO/European standards is preferred.

Qualifications

• B.E. in Electrical Engineering.
• 4–8 years of experience in electrical design.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD; COMOS experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Create designs for electrical systems per specs and standards using CAD tools.
• Draft wiring diagrams and floor plans showing outlet placements.
• Coordinate with architects to meet electrical codes and regulations.
• Recommend materials and equipment based on cost and availability.
• Compute analyses to optimize electrical system design.
• Develop detailed designs for lighting, transformers, switches, and cabling.
• Prepare pricing estimates for materials and services.
• Produce design reports and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with ISO and European standards as applicable.
• Direct installation, manufacturing, or testing activities to meet specs.

Electrical Design Engineer

4 to 8 Years in AutoCAD (COMOS would be added advantage)

B.E (Electrical)

• Creating designs for electrical systems based on engineering specifications and industry standards, using computer software applications such as AutoCAD or COMOS.
• Drafting preliminary drawings of electrical systems such as wiring diagrams and floor plans showing where electrical outlets will be placed in a building.
• Coordinating with architects and other designers to ensure that designs meet all applicable electrical codes and regulations.
• Recommending materials and equipment based on cost, quality, and availability.
• Performing calculations and analyses to determine the most effective design for electrical systems.
• Creating detailed designs of electrical systems such as lighting, transformers, switches, motors, fuses, breakers, and cabling with trays
• Preparing pricing estimates for materials and services needed for a specific project.
• Producing necessary design reports and documentation
• Electrical codes knowledge of Electrical regulations and standards, electrical codes are important in the design and manufacture of electrical systems (ISO standards, European standards added advantage)
• Ensuring that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements by preparing electrical systems specifications, technical drawings, or topographical maps.
• Establishing construction, manufacturing, or installation standards or specifications by performing a wide range of detailed calculations.
• Ensuring compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements by directing or coordinating installation, manufacturing, construction, maintenance, documentation, support, or testing activities.
• Writing reports and compiling data regarding existing and potential electrical engineering projects and studies.
• Preparing specifications for purchases of electrical equipment and materials.
• Design power, lighting, fire alarm, and communications systems for commercial, and industrial projects.
• MCC sizing, layout, powerhouse knowledge including PCC, APFC, etc. cost and scheduling
