Job summary

REEL India Services Pvt. Ltd. in Kolkata seeks an experienced Electrical & Control System Design engineer to develop detailed schematics, control panels, and wiring schedules for complex lifting and handling systems.

The role covers automation architecture, PLC/HMI/SCADA programming, and lifecycle documentation, requiring strong knowledge of IEC/IEEE standards and hands-on experience with EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical. Travel and cross-functional collaboration are possible across global projects.

Qualifications

• Diploma/BE/BTech in Electrical/Electronics Engineering with 6-10 years relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of electrical power distribution and control system electronics.
• Experience with IEC/IEEE standards and global design practices.
• Proficiency in EPLAN Electric P8 or AutoCAD Electrical.
• Hands-on experience programming and debugging PLC/SCADA systems.

Responsibilities

• Design detailed electrical schematics, control panel layouts, loop diagrams, and wiring schedules.
• Size and select electrical components including switchgear, transformers, VFDs, servos, and UPS.
• Program and configure PLC, HMI, and SCADA platforms (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider).
• Develop logic for complex hardware sequences, interlocks, and safety systems.
• Prepare BOMs, FDS, FAT protocols, and support multi-disciplinary integration.

These systems are integrated into its clients’ processes across the world in various domains such as aeronautics, defense, energy, metallurgy, offshore and industry.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical & Control System Design

• Design and develop detailed electrical schematics, control panel layouts, loop diagrams, and wiring schedules using tools like AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar hardware design platforms
• Size and select electrical components including switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), servos, and UPS systems
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant global and national standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE, NEC, CE, or local grid codes)

Automation Architecture & Programming

• Design network architectures for industrial automation using protocols like Modbus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, and Profibus
• Program and configure major PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) systems, HMI (Human-Machine Interface), and SCADA platforms (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Automation Studio 5000, Schneider EcoStruxure)
• Develop robust, structured logic code to control complex hardware sequences, interlocks, and safety systems

Engineering Documentation & Lifecycle Management

• Prepare technical specifications, Bills of Materials (BOMs), Functional Design Specifications (FDS), and Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) protocols
• Perform engineering calculations including load calculations, short-circuit calculations, and voltage drop analysis
• Collaborate with mechanical, software, and project engineering teams to ensure seamless multi-disciplinary integration

Requirements

Required Technical Skills & Qualifications :

• Diploma/BE/BTech in Electrical/Electronics Engineering with 6-10 years relevant experience
• Good Communication, Negotiation and Conflict management skills
• Metals Mining Background will be preferred
• Experience in working in a global matrix organization
• Core Engineering Foundation: Strong conceptual understanding of electrical power distribution (Low Voltage/Medium Voltage) and control system electronics
• Software Tools: High proficiency in EPLAN Electric P8 or AutoCAD Electrical
• Automation Platforms: Hands-on experience programming and troubleshooting at least one major ecosystem (Siemens S7-1200/1500, Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, etc.)
• Instrumentation: Deep knowledge of process instrumentation, analog/digital signalling, and sensor integration
• Troubleshooting: Proven ability to diagnose complex electrical faults and debug PLC code systematically
• Clear technical communication skills to interface directly with clients, vendors, and on-site testing teams
• Strong ownership mindset—ability to manage design deadlines across multiple projects concurrently
