Job summary

AECOM is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer in Mumbai to develop and review detailed designs for AIS and GIS substations, including SLDs, GA drawings, and layouts. The role involves outdoor switchyard and indoor GIS substations design, plus busbar/conductor layouts adhering to CEA/IEC/IEEE standards.

You will perform calculations for transformer sizing, grounding, cable routing, and lighting, and prepare specifications and datasheets for major equipment.

Responsibilities

• Develop primary design for AIS and GIS substations from concept through detailed engineering.
• Prepare and review SLDs, GA drawings, layouts, sections, elevations, and plot plans.
• Design outdoor switchyards and indoor GIS substations.
• Create busbar/conductor layouts and ensure equipment clearances per standards.
• Perform electrical design calculations for transformers, cabling, earthing, and lighting.
• Prepare specifications and datasheets for transformers, breakers, GIS/AIS equipment, and cables.
• Produce engineering deliverables: SLDs, GA drawings, switchyard and GIS layouts, BOM.
• Review vendor drawings, datasheets, and bid evaluations; resolve deviations.
• Support procurement during equipment selection and approvals.

Role & responsibilities

Primary Design Engineering

• Develop primary design for AIS and GIS substations from concept through detailed engineering.
• Prepare and review Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), General Arrangement (GA) drawings, equipment layouts, sections, elevations, and plot plans.
• Design outdoor switchyards and indoor GIS substations.
• Develop busbar arrangements, conductor layouts, and equipment clearances in accordance with CEA Guideline/IEC/IEEE standards.

Electrical System Design

• Perform engineering calculations for: Power transformer sizing Busbar and conductor sizing; Earthing (grounding) system design Lightning protection system design; Cable sizing and routing; Station service AC/DC systems; Battery sizing; Illumination calculations; Short-circuit withstand checks Busbar force calculations

Equipment Engineering

• Prepare technical specifications and datasheets for: Power Transformers Circuit Breakers Disconnectors & Earthing Switches Current Transformers (CTs) Voltage Transformers (VTs/CVTs) Surge Arresters GIS/AIS equipment Neutral Grounding Equipment Busducts Station Service Transformers HV and MV cables
