CAI India
CAI India is a strategic investment in the companys future. Our Bangalore Center of Excellence is a place of ownership, expertise, and accountability. Teams in India work on global products end to end, contribute to key decisions, and influence how CAI evolves as a business. This is not a support-led model, but rather a center designed to lead through knowledge, responsibility, and trust.
About the Role
CAI Software’s Discrete Manufacturing Business Unit is hiring a Senior Full Stack Developer for our EDI Products team, backfilling a departing team member. This is a dual-scope role: part software architect, part hands-on full stack engineer. The person in this seat will help define the target architecture for modernizing our legacy EDI platform (iCARaS, iR*EDI, and iSC) and will personally build significant parts of that modernization — from middleware and data access through to the Angular front end. We’re looking for someone who can operate comfortably at both ends: making sound architectural calls and writing production-quality code, while using AI-assisted development to move faster without sacrificing quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a technical architect for the legacy-to-modern transformation of the EDI Products platform — proposing target-state architecture, evaluating trade-offs, and documenting decisions.
- Design and build full stack features end-to-end: Angular/TypeScript front end, .NET-based middleware (HarmonyCore), and the underlying data layer (ISAM/SQL-style access).
- Lead the technical approach for migrating functionality off the legacy Synergy DBL/ISAM and ExtJS stack toward a modern .NET and Angular architecture.
- Use AI-assisted development tools as a core part of the daily workflow — for implementation, refactoring, test generation, and code review — and help raise the bar for AI-led development practices across the team.
- Apply working knowledge of EDI concepts (trading-partner transactions, ASNs, mapping/translation, X12 standards) to ensure modernization work preserves business-critical behavior.
- Break down architecture and epics into well-scoped stories in Azure DevOps (ADO), and manage code through ADO-Git (branching, pull requests, code review).
- Collaborate with the Engineering Manager and Product Managers/Product Owners in Aha! to align technical planning with roadmap priorities.
- Keep architecture decisions, designs, and technical documentation current in Confluence for the team and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Mentor other engineers on full stack development practices, code quality, and modernization patterns.
- Identify technical risk and legacy-system pitfalls early, and propose pragmatic mitigation paths.
AI-Led Development
This role is expected to model AI-led development for the team:
- Use AI coding assistants fluently for implementation, debugging, refactoring, and test coverage across the stack.
- Apply sound judgment about when and how to use AI-generated code responsibly, especially around legacy business logic.
- Contribute to team norms/guardrails for secure, effective AI tool usage.
Tools & Platforms
- Azure DevOps (ADO) and ADO-Git
- Aha! (roadmap and planning alignment)
- Confluence (architecture and engineering documentation)
- AI-assisted development tooling as adopted by the organization
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field from a Tier-1 or Tier-2 institution (e.g., IITs, NITs, IIITs, or equivalent top-ranked engineering colleges) strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of professional full stack development experience, with demonstrated ability to work across front end, middleware, and data layers.
- Strong front-end skills in Angular (or equivalent modern framework) and TypeScript/JavaScript.
- Strong back-end skills in .NET / C#, with experience designing and building APIs and middleware services.
- Solid understanding of relational and/or legacy data access patterns (SQL; exposure to ISAM or similar older data stores is a plus).
- Experience or working knowledge of EDI (electronic data interchange) concepts — X12 standards, trading-partner transactions, ASNs, or mapping/translation tools.
- Demonstrated experience acting in an architect-level capacity: system design, technology trade-off analysis, and technical documentation.
- Hands‑on, daily experience using AI-assisted development tools in a professional setting.
- Experience working in Azure DevOps (ADO/ADO‑Git) for planning and source control.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain architectural decisions to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience modernizing or re-platforming a legacy monolith into a service-oriented or cloud-friendly architecture.
- Familiarity with Synergy DBL, ExtJS, or other legacy enterprise stacks.
- Experience with Aha! for roadmap planning and Confluence for architecture documentation.
- Background in automotive, manufacturing, or B2B integration software domains.
What Success Looks Like
- A clear, well‑documented target architecture for modernizing the EDI Products platform, with team buy‑in.
- Tangible modernization progress shipped incrementally, without disrupting existing customer‑facing functionality.
- Visible, effective use of AI‑led development that measurably improves delivery speed and code quality.
- Strong technical documentation in Confluence and clean, well‑managed work in ADO/ADO‑Git.
