Job summary

Ecolab in Pune seeks an experienced Sr. E&I Engineer to lead the design and engineering of electrical and instrumentation systems for turnkey water and utility projects. Strong expertise in system design, documentation, and cross-functional coordination is required.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with civil, mechanical and automation teams, ensure IEC compliance, and drive vendor reviews to deliver reliable, safe, and high-quality engineering documentation within deadlines.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in Electrical & Instrumentation design for water/utility projects.
• Knowledge of LT/HT systems, MCC/PCC/PLC panels, Industrial instrumentation.
• Familiarity with PLC/SCADA systems (interface level).
• Knowledge of IEC standards and electrical safety design.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical system design, including SLD, load calculations, cable sizing.
• Lead instrumentation engineering: select instruments, signal types (4-20 mA, HART), datasheets.
• Coordinate with SCADA/PLC teams for I/O mapping and panel integration.
• Ensure compliance with IEC standards and electrical safety.
• Mentor engineers and site teams; manage vendor interactions.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Sr. E&I Engineer to lead the design and engineering of

electrical and instrumentation systems for turnkey water and utility projects. The role requires

strong expertise in system design, engineering documentation, and cross-functional

coordination, along with technical leadership.

Key Responsibilities

1. Electrical System Design

• Develop and review:
  • Single Line Diagrams (SLD)
  • Load calculations, cable sizing, and voltage drop calculations
• Design and engineering of:
  • MCC, PCC, and PLC panels
• Selection and application of:

2. Instrumentation Engineering

• Selection and specification of instruments:
  • Flow meters, level transmitters, pressure transmitters
  • Water quality analyzers (pH, turbidity, chlorine, etc.)
  • Instrument index, I/O list, datasheets
  • Cable schedules and hook-up drawings
• Understanding of signal types:
  • 4–20 mA, HART protocols
• Coordinate with internal teams such as civil, mechanical, and automation during design phase
• Ensure alignment of E&I design with overall project requirements
• Collaborate with vendors for technical specifications and drawing reviews

4. Automation Interface

• Coordinate with SCADA/PLC teams for:
  • I/O mapping
  • Control panel design and integration
• Support signal philosophy and engineering alignment with automation systems

5. Standards, Quality & Safety

• Ensure compliance with:
  • IEC standards
  • Electrical design and safety regulations
• Follow best practices for system reliability, maintainability, and safety in design
• Lead and mentor engineers and site teams
• Manage vendor interactions and technical discussions

Mandatory Skills

• Strong experience in Electrical & Instrumentation design (water/utility industry preferred)
• Knowledge of LT/HT systems, MCC/PCC/PLC panels , Industrial instrumentation
• Familiarity with PLC/SCADA systems (interface level)
• Knowledge of IEC standards and electrical safety design
