Job summary

Atlantic Publishers & Distributors is seeking a skilled InDesign Operator to join our publishing team in Delhi NCR. The role focuses on typesetting and layout, preparing print-ready and digital-ready files with precision and consistency.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of experience in publishing, strong typography sense, and proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. You will collaborate with editors and production staff to meet deadlines and ensure high-quality publications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Publishing, or a related field.
• 1to3 years of experience in typesetting, page layout, or publishing is preferred.
• Strong proficiency in Adobe InDesign; working knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator.
• Good understanding of typography, page composition, layout, and print production.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good understanding of book and publication formatting requirements.
• Ability to identify and resolve layout and formatting issues.
• Good organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet strict deadlines.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced publishing environment.

Responsibilities

Position Overview

We are looking for a creative, detail-oriented, and technically proficient InDesign Operator to join our publishing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for typesetting and formatting manuscripts and preparing professional layouts for print and digital publications. The candidate should have a strong understanding of typography, page layout, and publishing requirements, along with proficiency in Adobe InDesign and other relevant design tools.

Key Responsibilities

1. Typesetting & Layout

• Format manuscripts and other content into professional layouts for print and digital publications.
• Create and maintain consistent page layouts, styles, fonts, spacing, alignment, and formatting throughout publications.
• Typeset books, journals, academic publications, and other editorial content as per specifications.
• Adjust and fine-tune layouts to meet both technical and aesthetic requirements.
• Incorporate corrections and revisions accurately during the production process.

2. Design Tools & Production

• Work proficiently with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and other relevant publishing and design tools.
• Prepare print-ready files in accordance with technical specifications.
• Ensure proper handling of fonts, images, graphics, bleeds, margins, and page dimensions.
• Prepare and optimize files for digital publications, including eBooks and online formats.
• Coordinate with the editorial and production teams to ensure files are ready for printing and publication.

3. Coordination & Workflow Management

• Work closely with editors, copyeditors, designers, and production teams to ensure smooth completion of projects.
• Liaise with printers and external vendors, wherever required, to ensure quality production.
• Review proofs and implement corrections within the required timelines.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously and ensure timely delivery.
• Respond to feedback and incorporate revisions accurately and promptly.
• Maintain organized files and follow established publishing and production workflows.
