Job summary

Okta is seeking a seasoned engineering manager to lead the Documentation Tools team within the Builder Experience group. You will guide engineers responsible for content sites and internal docs, driving AI-assisted development and adoption across the team.

Reporting to the Information Development Director, you’ll influence roadmap delivery and talent growth. Ideal candidates have 10+ years in engineering with frontend focus, 3+ years leading teams, and proficiency with major cloud platforms.

Qualifications

• Deep frontend engineering experience with ownership of production systems.
• 3+ years of leading a software engineering team.
• Hands-on with AI-assisted development tools and workflows.
• Strong understanding of major cloud providers (AWS/Azure/GCP).

Responsibilities

• Lead a team responsible for building and maintaining content sites (help.okta.com and developer.okta.com).
• Drive AI adoption across the team to improve productivity, quality, and speed.
• Collaborate with Doc Tools leads to implement the Builder Experience roadmap.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop engineers.
• Set clear priorities and accountability for individuals and the team.

We are looking for a manager to lead the Documentation (Doc) Tools team supporting the Builder Experience department. • Lead a team of engineers responsible for building and maintaining the help.okta.com and developer.okta.com content sites.
• You’ll lead the adoption of AI across your team’s day-to-day deliverables, integrating it thoughtfully to improve your internal stakeholder’s productivity, quality, and speed.
• Work closely with the Doc Tools leads to develop and implement our roadmap.
• Recruit great engineers to accelerate our work.
• Mentor, retain, and develop engineers as they advance in their own careers.
• Establishing clear priorities, expectations, and accountability for individuals and team
• Collaborate with the Doc Tools leads to assist in delivering projects on the Builder Experience roadmap.

What you’ll bring to the role

• Have managed software engineering teams with end-to-end ownership over their technical stack and production performance.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Codex and Claude, with the ability to integrate them effectively into day-to-day engineering workflows.
• Are excited to build an amazing product - and believe the best way to do so is by leading and empowering engineers.
• Are familiar with CI/CD tools such as GitHub, CircleCI, Vercel and Artifactory.
• Have successfully built high-performing engineering teams.
• Have opinions on topics like build tooling, CI/CD pipelines and technical debt.
• Are comfortable leading geographically distributed teams.
• Thrive on autonomy, and use it to get stuff done.

Desired knowledge

• Experience working with a documentation team.
• Knowledge of DITA, documentation tools, and writer processes.
• Localization experience.

Required education and experience

• 10+ years of experience as an engineer with significant frontend experience.
• 3+ years of experience building and leading a team of engineers.
• Deep understanding of at least 1 major cloud provider (AWS/Azure/GCP)
• 3+ years of technical management experience.
• Bachelor's in CS, or equivalent
