Job summary

Vacancy Target Jobs is seeking a Director of Vendor Management to lead strategic vendor relationships across technology products and curriculum. This role partners with Business Operations, IT, Procurement, Finance and Legal to govern the vendor lifecycle from contract initiation to performance monitoring.

The ideal candidate will drive contract reviews, SLAs, quarterly business reviews, and vendor scorecards, while aligning vendor activities with the company’s strategic roadmap.

Responsibilities

Director of Vendor Management

Overview

The role is a key leadership position within the technology and product management process, overseeing strategic technology vendor relationships that support critical product functionality and curriculum. The Director will work with Business Operations, IT, Procurement, Finance, and Legal to manage the entire vendor lifecycle from contract initiation through ongoing performance monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Deliver critical vendor management functions, including contract review, SLA development, and negotiations where needed.
• Establish regular vendor business reviews (quarterly) to assess performance and alignment with business objectives.
• Establish vendor scorecards and accountability measures for continuous improvement.
• Manage critical vendor renewals and serve as an escalation point between vendors and technology teams for key projects or operational issues.
• Partner with Architecture and Product Management to manage the lifecycle of critical vendor technologies.
• Develop and maintain a communication methodology that ensures effective and efficient organizational communication.
• Collaborate with individuals and teams across the organization to drive value and achieve meaningful results.
• Leverage industry trend awareness to identify new opportunities for vendor engagement.
• Act as a champion of change across business units to align vendor activities with strategic plans.
• Strategize with partners on technology roadmaps and explore new opportunities for improvement.
• Enhance existing and prospective relationships through product, technology, and vendor evaluation.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises 2–5 Full‑time Equivalent (FTE) regular employees and/or contractors. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.

Minimum Required Qualifications

• BS/BA in technology business management, computer science, or a relevant field.
• 5+ years of experience in Vendor Management.
• 10+ years of experience in operational, management, or delivery roles.
• 5+ years of upper‑management experience and leadership skills, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Outstanding knowledge of the modern tech stack and the company’s applications.
• Extensive firsthand experience with design, development, and implementation of IT systems.
• Demonstrated knowledge of budgeting, financial planning, and business operations.
• Analytical mindset and strong critical‑thinking skills.
