Job summary

Lotus Pharmaceuticals seeks a senior portfolio and IP strategist in Hyderabad (Genome Valley), to drive revenue by identifying niche, complex products and integrating them into the internal R&D portfolio, owning the business case, and obtaining CEO buy-in through data-driven insights.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in pharma/life sciences, with portfolio strategy experience.
• Track record of identifying and commercializing niche or technically complex products.
• Working knowledge of pharma IP landscape — patents, exclusivity, freedom-to-operate.
• Strong business case development and C-suite presentation skills.
• Experience with stage-gate or equivalent phase-review frameworks.
• Comfort operating in a matrixed global structure.

Reports to: the Global VP – Portfolio & IP

Location: Hyderabad (Genome Valley), India

Entity: Meishi Pharma Services Pvt Ltd (India entity of Lotus Pharmaceuticals)

Role Purpose

Drive revenue growth for Lotus Pharmaceuticals by identifying and bringing niche, complex, and differentiated products into the internal R&D portfolio — products with high barriers to entry, limited competition, or technical complexity that create sustainable commercial advantage. Own the business case, secure CEO buy-in through data-driven recommendations, and govern the pipeline through stage-gate review, in close alignment with the Global VP – Portfolio & IP.

Key Responsibilities

Niche & Complex Product Identification

• Scan global markets for niche, complex, or high-barrier-to-entry product opportunities (e.g., complex generics, differentiated formulations, limited-competition molecules) that offer strong revenue and margin potential
• Assess technical complexity, manufacturing feasibility, and competitive white space to prioritize products where Lotus can build differentiated advantage
• Build the commercial and technical business case — market size, competitive intensity, patent/exclusivity landscape, revenue/margin projection, and development risk

Identify strategic API and formulation partners for products of strategic importance to the organization.

Revenue-Driven Decision Making

• Present data-backed product recommendations to the CEO, framed around revenue impact, time-to-market, and competitive positioning, to secure selection sign-off
• Prioritize the portfolio mix to balance near-term revenue products against longer-term complex/niche bets
• Track realized vs. projected revenue impact of selected products post-launch to sharpen future selection criteria

IP & Global Alignment

• Ensure product selection avoids IP conflict and leverages exclusivity opportunities aligned with global strategy

Stage-Gate Portfolio Governance

• Run the stage-gate review process (concept to feasibility to development to filing to launch readiness) with go/no-go/hold decisions at each milestone
• Track portfolio health — pipeline velocity, resource allocation, risk flags — reporting the Global VP – Portfolio & IP

Cross-functional Coordination

• Partner with R&D, Regulatory,Commercial, and Finance to validate technical and commercial assumptions
• Manage trade-off decisions when resource, timeline, or IP conflicts arise across the pipeline

Requirements
