2. ORGANISATION BACKGROUND:

The organisation is a respected national foundation working with corporate, philanthropic, development and public-sector partners to design and scale social-impact initiatives across India. It benefits from deep relationships across Indian industry and works through programmes, strategic partnerships and specialist sectoral platforms spanning multiple development priorities.

The Foundation is strengthening its development, CSR partnerships and global engagement function so that high-quality programme ideas can be translated into credible, scalable and fundable propositions, supported by long-term relationships with corporates, foundations, philanthropies, development institutions and international partners.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION / RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Director – Development, CSR Partnerships & Global Outreach will build and lead an integrated development and partnerships function, with a central mandate to convert the organisation’s strong corporate relationships into sustained, high-impact CSR and institutional partnerships.

The selected candidate will work closely with programme teams, sectoral knowledge and innovation platforms, and senior leadership to shape fundable programme propositions; build a diversified funding pipeline; cultivate and steward strategic relationships; strengthen international engagement; and create the systems, team capability and partnership architecture required for long-term institutional sustainability.

This is a senior, externally facing role requiring strategic judgement, strong corporate credibility, programme understanding and the ability to move comfortably between relationship building, proposition development, resource mobilisation, governance and execution.

Key Responsibilities:

(1) Develop and execute a systematic strategy for engaging leading corporates around their CSR priorities, geographies, thematic interests and partnership requirements;

(2) Build and maintain a qualified pipeline of CSR opportunities, with emphasis on multi-year, recurring and portfolio-level partnerships rather than one-off transactions;

(3) Engage senior corporate decision-makers, CSR heads, corporate foundations and business leaders to identify and structure high-value programme partnerships;

(4) Convert strong institutional relationships with industry into sustained funding and strategic collaborations aligned with the Foundation’s priorities and impact agenda;

(5) Track the quality, conversion and forward visibility of the CSR pipeline and initiate timely action where opportunities or renewals are at risk.

(1) Work with programme teams and relevant sectoral platforms to translate social-impact needs, programme priorities and sector opportunities into credible, scalable and fundable propositions;

(2) Develop compelling proposals that combine a clear problem statement, intervention design, implementation approach, budgets, measurable outcomes, scalability and partner value proposition;

(3) Ensure that propositions are practical, compliant and responsive to the priorities of corporate, philanthropic and institutional funders;

(4) Support the design and refinement of innovative programme models capable of attracting sustained funding and achieving measurable social impact;

(5) Bring external market, donor and partner insight into programme design so that opportunities are shaped early rather than only packaged after they are fully developed.

(C) Specialist Platform Sustainability & Cross-Institutional Partnership Development:

(1) Work with specialist sectoral knowledge, innovation and capability platforms to identify initiatives capable of attracting CSR, philanthropic, institutional or partnership funding;

(2) Help develop sustainable programme portfolios and resource-mobilisation strategies linked to best practices, innovation, technology and sector transformation;

(3) Package suitable platform-linked initiatives for corporates, foundations, development institutions and international partners;

(4) Build collaboration across the Foundation, programme teams and specialist platforms so that strong ideas are converted into structured, measurable and fundable programmes;

(5) Contribute to the institutional and financial sustainability of such platforms without diluting the credibility or quality of their knowledge and policy work.

(D) Strategic Partnerships & Relationship Stewardship:

(1) Build and deepen strategic partnerships with corporates, corporate foundations, philanthropies, foundations, development institutions and other relevant stakeholders;

(2) Develop partnership propositions that combine funding with expertise, networks, technology, knowledge and other non-financial resources;

(3) Lead structured cultivation, stewardship, renewal and expansion strategies for high-value institutional relationships;

(4) Maintain strong relationships with senior decision-makers and Board-level stakeholders and build confidence in the Foundation’s programme quality and execution capability;

(5) Identify opportunities for long-term collaborations, programme scale and pooled or collaborative funding where appropriate.

(E) Global Outreach & International Engagement:

(1) Lead engagement with international foundations, development agencies, multilateral and bilateral institutions and relevant global networks;

(2) Identify international funding and collaboration opportunities aligned with the Foundation’s priorities and sectoral platforms;

(3) Build international collaborations that strengthen programme quality, learning, innovation, credibility and scale;

(4) Facilitate access to global expertise, technology, knowledge and networks that can strengthen Foundation and platform-linked programmes;

(5) Represent the organisation at relevant global forums and strengthen its international profile, subject to applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

(1) Build a disciplined fundraising operating system covering prospect mapping, donor/partner segmentation, relationship records, proposal calendar, stewardship calendar and pipeline forecasting;

(2) Establish regular pipeline reviews and management reporting to improve forward revenue visibility, conversion discipline and early identification of funding gaps;

(3) Ensure that proposals, partnerships and donor commitments are aligned with governance, compliance and reputational requirements;

(4) Work closely with programme, finance and compliance teams to support accurate budgeting, contracting, reporting, donor communication and CSR/grant compliance;

(5) Monitor funding concentration, renewal risks and pipeline gaps and initiate timely corrective action.

(G) Team Leadership & Internal Collaboration:

(1) Build, lead and mentor the development, fundraising and partnerships function, as applicable;

(2) Set clear targets, responsibilities, systems and performance standards for the function;

(3) Work closely with senior leadership, programme heads, finance/compliance teams and sectoral platform leaders to ensure integrated planning and execution;

(4) Promote a collaborative, outcome-focused and partner-responsive working culture;

(5) Represent the organisation internally and externally with maturity, credibility and sound judgement.

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Management, Social Work, Public Policy, Development Studies, Economics, CSR/Sustainability or a related discipline from a reputed institution.

Experience:

(1) Minimum 15+ years of relevant professional experience in resource mobilisation, CSR partnerships, corporate foundation leadership, philanthropy, institutional partnerships, development-sector business development, social-impact consulting or related fields;

(2) Demonstrated experience engaging senior corporate stakeholders, CSR leaders, foundations, philanthropies, development institutions and/or international organisations;

(3) Strong understanding of CSR, corporate philanthropy, social-impact programme design, partnership structuring and donor/partner stewardship;

(4) Proven experience building funding pipelines, developing high-value proposals, negotiating partnerships and converting opportunities into multi-year relationships;

(5) Familiarity with governance, donor reporting, CSR compliance and reputational considerations relevant to foundations and mission-driven organisations;

(6) Experience developing or supporting scalable programmes, institutional platforms or cross-sector partnerships will be an advantage.

Skills and Competencies:

(1) Strategic thinking and institutional perspective;

(2) Business development, financial acumen and resource mobilisation;

(3) Strong understanding of the CSR ecosystem and corporate relationship management;

(4) Programme proposition development and impact articulation;

(5) Strategic stakeholder management, relationship stewardship and negotiation;

(6) Global outreach, partnership building and collaboration;

(7) Governance, compliance sensitivity and reputational judgement;

(8) Strategic communication, influencing and public speaking;

(9) Leadership, team development and performance management;

(10) Strong execution orientation and ability to work effectively across complex internal and external stakeholders.

5. IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE:

The ideal candidate will be a senior development and partnerships leader who understands both sides of the funding relationship: what drives corporate and institutional partners to commit significant resources, and what makes a social-impact programme credible, implementable and scalable. The person should combine strong corporate/CSR relationships with programme judgement, fundraising discipline, stewardship capability and the institutional maturity to work across multiple internal teams and senior external stakeholders.

Candidates may come from corporate CSR leadership, corporate foundations, philanthropy, institutional fundraising, social-impact advisory/consulting, strategic partnerships or senior development roles. A traditional NGO fundraising background alone will not be sufficient unless accompanied by strong corporate credibility, programme understanding and evidence of building substantial, multi-year partnerships.

6. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

Annual salary for the role is attractive and aligned to market rates. The offer made to the selected candidate will be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and salary history.

7. NUMBER OF VACANCIES: One

The role will require regular engagement with corporate, philanthropic, development and institutional stakeholders in India and internationally, with travel as required.
