Job summary

About The Job

As the Engineering Director for Duet AI for Database Manageability, you will lead the engineering organization globally for Duet AI for Databases development. You will lead cross-organizationally and cross-globally and be responsible for building and operating a large scale business or function there-in. As part of this role, you will define the strategy, develop a joint roadmap, secure commitments, and execute on a set of projects across multiple database services including Cloud SQL, AlloyDB, Spanner, Bigtable, Firestore, and Memorystore.

Engineering Directors have not only the technical chops to take initiative and provide technical leadership to major projects, but also manage a team of engineers. You will be responsible for product strategy, determining and driving project goals, and developing your team. Software Engineering teams work across the company, in areas such as data storage, databases, information retrieval, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking, security, data compression, user interface design, the list goes on and is growing every day. With extensive technical and leadership expertise, you will manage engineering leaders across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget, and oversee the deployment of large scale projects across multiple sites internationally.

In this role, you will lead and grow the team, and bring a deep understanding of software (e.g., operating systems, cloud) due to the evolving and growing nature of our business. You will bring a solid understanding of distributed systems at scale. Working in this team will expose you to both building a complex cloud service and managing a hyper-scale business within Google Cloud.
