Job summary

Sarthee Consultancy is seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Leader for its blast furnace division in India. You will oversee high- and low-tension electrical systems, UPS, DG sets, and preventive maintenance across the complex.

The role requires 15–20 years at AGM level or 20–25 years at DGM level in large steel plants, with strong leadership and vendor coordination skills. Competitive pay and growth opportunities offered.

Qualifications

  • Education: B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering (mandatory).
  • AGM: 15–20 years of experience in electrical maintenance of large blast furnace units or integrated steel plants.
  • DGM: 20–25 years of experience in commissioning, operations, and maintenance of blast furnace electrical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure uninterrupted power supply and safe operation of all electrical systems across the Blast Furnace complex.
  • Oversee operation and maintenance of HT/LT switchgear, transformers, motors, MCCs, AC/DC drives, lighting, and earthing systems.
  • Manage preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of electrical equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure healthiness of UPS systems, DG sets, and emergency power systems for critical areas.
  • Conduct regular energy audits and implement energy-saving initiatives to optimize power consumption.
  • Provide electrical support for major furnace subsystems, including Cast House mud gun, tap hole drill, tilting runner, slag granulation system, Stock House weigh hoppers, conveyors, screeners, feeders, bins, Cooling Water Systems, Blower House, Turbo Blowers, Compressors, Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems, and Instrumentation interfaces with PLC, SCADA, and DCS.
  • Plan and execute electrical system upgrades, expansions, and modernization projects; review and approve technical specifications and vendor documentation.
  • Coordinate with OEMs, EPC contractors, and suppliers for project execution and commissioning.
  • Establish and implement robust Preventive Maintenance schedules for all electrical assets.
  • Conduct equipment reliability studies (MTBF/MTTR) and implement improvement plans.
  • Drive condition monitoring programs including thermography, insulation resistance tests, and vibration analysis.
  • Maintain proper documentation of maintenance records and equipment history in SAP CMMS.
  • Enforce strict adherence to electrical safety standards (IS/IEC) and plant safety procedures; ensure LOTO compliance during maintenance.
  • Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and team training for electrical safety and operational excellence.
  • Lead and motivate a team of engineers, supervisors, and technicians; carry out skill development and performance evaluations.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement in electrical maintenance operations.
  • Control electrical maintenance budgets and ensure cost optimization while maintaining safety and reliability.
  • Manage spares and consumables inventory to ensure availability of critical electrical components.
  • Drive initiatives for indigenous development of spare parts and cost reduction.
