Job summary

Tata Motors is seeking an ADAS lead to conceptualize and develop strategies for ADAS systems related to passenger and electric vehicles. This role entails managing innovation, technology, and capabilities required for ADAS aggregates while overseeing product development throughout its lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will have 15+ years of product engineering experience, extensive knowledge of ADAS technologies, and leadership skills to manage a dedicated team. Knowledge of functional safety and cybersecurity is also essential.

Job description

Purpose of role:

The ADAS lead shall conceptualize, specify and develop strategy for ADAS CoC aggregates and Features, to meet program targets of quality, cost & time for entire range of Tata Motors Passenger and Electric vehicles along with development of technologies and competencies for future growth.

Job Responsibilities:

Innovation and Technology management:

• Keep abreast with latest ADAS Technology trends and relevant technology providers
• Track evolving requirements of target markets and competitor/ benchmark performance
• Map feasibility of application of new technologies over a ‘time horizon’ and propose the ADAS technology roadmap
• Develop technologies as per approved roadmap
• Execute and document milestones of TCDS process
• Drive adoption of enabling architectural and technological interventions for delivery of ADAS systems as per approved roadmap

Develop Capability:

• Create short and medium term engineering capability plans to achieve functional objectives
• Formulate component/aggregate strategy
• Formulate guidelines and best practices for the aggregate based on the learnings from the projects (TGR & TGW)
• Create & update foundation DFMEAs for the aggregate
• Develop Functional Safety, Safety Of The Intended Function and Cyber Security strategies, towards development of robust ADAS Product Development

Product Development:

• Review progress of project and review and approve DMLs to meet the best practices for CoC
• Implement best practices to find and solve problems in the project
• Guide and Review cost and weight effective solutions and propose implementation in the project
• Participate in resolution of escalated issues by VMTL & Project Leader
• Report on project progress, track development of enablers and elevate key issues to program managers and senior management

People Management:

• Cascade of BSC targets to individual KRA’s
• Monitor performance and provide individual feedback to direct and wherever necessary indirect reports
• Capture the current and future skills and competency requirements for all the VE roles
• Monitor and take corrective measures to bridge gaps in skills and competencies for the department
• Track manpower and resource requirements and take measures to ensure requirements are met
• Ensure Communication cascade within the team

Desired Candidate:

• 15+ years of experience in domain of product engineering and development
• In-depth knowledge of ADAS aggregate and technologies
• Experience of at least 2 full product development cycles on ADAS aggregates and Features
• Experience of new ADAS technology integration / development
• The candidate shall lead the team in Design, Development and Verification of ADAS features
• Some example Features are FCW, AEB, ACC, HBA, LDW, LKA, ACC with LKA, RCTA, LCW, DOA, BSD, SVS, APA, DDID etc. Work on ADAS Level 3+ concept and architecture shall happen in the parallel
• The scope would involve Perception, Control systems (Engine, Braking and Steering system along with ADAS) design, development and Verification of above-mentioned Features
• The candidate must be well versed in working of Camera, Radar and Ultrasonic sensor technologies
• The candidate must be well versed with the concept of Software Defined Vehicles (SDV). Previous experience in delivery of SDV- based aggregates will be an advantage
• It is expected that candidates have worked upon Functional Safety, Cybersecurity, Networking and Diagnostics of ADAS systems
• Candidates having worked on ADAS HiL systems, Vehicle in loop systems, data recorder and playback systems will be preferred
• Candidates shall be well versed in the Project Management, Behavioural and leadership skills and shall be able to manage the ADAS team
