Role Summary

The DevSecOps Lead drives the DevSecOps practice across the Xceedance insurance ecosystem, defining strategy, establishing standards, mentoring engineering teams, and combining deep technical expertise with leadership to advance DevOps maturity, security automation, operational excellence, and cultural transformation using Microsoft Azure as the primary platform.
Key Responsibilities
- DevSecOps Strategy & Leadership – Define and execute a comprehensive DevSecOps strategy and roadmap aligned with digital transformation and cloud adoption. Build a DevOps maturity model, set metrics (e.g., DORA), and communicate value to executive leadership.
- Enterprise CI/CD Platform Architecture – Lead design and implementation of multi‑tenant CI/CD pipelines that support hundreds of applications, enforce governance, and enable self‑service. Architect GitOps practices and evaluate tool candidates.
- Standards & Best Practices – Develop DevOps standards covering infrastructure as code, containerization, security integration, monitoring, and incident response. Create reference architectures, runbooks, and knowledge bases.
- Automation & Infrastructure Excellence – Drive automation across build, test, deployment, and operations. Lead IaC adoption, multi‑cloud infrastructure, and Kubernetes platform design.
- Security Integration & Shift‑Left – Embed security controls throughout the delivery lifecycle. Architect scanning strategies, security‑as‑code, secrets management, and vulnerability management.
- Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) – Define SLOs/SLIs, error budgets, observability frameworks, incident response processes, chaos engineering, capacity planning, and remediation automation.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship – Build, lead, and grow high‑performing DevSecOps teams. Provide technical leadership, mentorship, training, and performance coaching.
- Tool Evaluation & Vendor Management – Evaluate, proof‑of‑concept, and govern DevOps tools; manage vendor relationships and licensing.
- Compliance & Governance – Ensure DevOps practices comply with GDPR, CCPA, PCI‑DSS, SOC 2, and insurance regulations. Manage audit trails and compliance dashboards.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Management – Partner with enterprise architects, security teams, developers, business leaders, and HR to align initiatives and build consensus.
Required Skills
- DevOps Leadership – Deep expertise in DevOps culture, team building, roadmap development, change management, and organizational influence.
- Advanced CI/CD – Enterprise‑scale pipeline architecture, GitOps (ArgoCD, Flux), multi‑environment deployments, and automation patterns.
- Infrastructure & Cloud – Advanced IaC (Terraform modules, state management, policy validation); multi‑cloud (Azure, AWS, GCP); Kubernetes at scale; hybrid connectivity.
- Security & Compliance – DevSecOps, shift‑left practices, security automation (SAST, DAST, SCA), compliance‑as‑code, secrets management, vulnerability management.
- Site Reliability Engineering – SLO/SLI definition, observability (metrics, logs, traces), incident response, chaos engineering, capacity planning, automated remediation.
- Platform Engineering – Internal developer platform design, developer experience, self‑service, platform‑as‑product mindset, API design.
- Tools & Technologies – Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab, Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, Azure services, Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor, security scanning tools.
Required Experience
- Eight or more years in DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure engineering with at least three years in technical leadership.
- Proven track record building DevOps practices from the ground up: strategy, standards, and teams.
- Experience leading enterprise‑scale CI/CD platforms for hundreds of applications.
- Evidence of cultural transformation promoting DevOps practices across an organization.
- Experience in insurance or financial services with regulatory compliance understanding.
- Demonstrated recruiting and developing high‑performing technical teams.
Required Certifications
- Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ‑400).
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ‑305).
- Valuable: AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS), HashiCorp Certified Terraform – Professional, CISSP.
