Job summary

UST is seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer in India to lead design and management of scalable GitLab CI/CD pipelines, GitOps practices, and Release on Demand processes. You will implement manifests, manage secrets, and drive automation for secure, reliable deployments using Datadog for observability.

The role requires strong scripting skills, containerization with Docker and Kubernetes, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to improve deployment frequency and reduce failure

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, Cloud Engineering, or related role.
• Designing and managing enterprise-scale CI/CD and GitOps environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with cloud-native tech, containers, Kubernetes, and automation.
• Solid understanding of version control, branching strategies, deployment automation, and DevOps lifecycle practices.

Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer with strong expertise in GitLab CI/CD, GitOps practices, and Release on Demand processes. The ideal candidate will design and manage scalable CI/CD pipelines, manage infrastructure through GitOps principles, and ensure observability using tools like Datadog.

The Opportunity:

• Design, implement, and optimize GitLab CI/CD pipelines for build, test, and deployment workflows
• Implement and manage GitOps practices including:
• Infrastructure and application manifests
• Repository structuring and version control strategies
• Pipeline orchestration and scheduling
• Secure handling of secrets and configurations
• Drive Release on Demand (RoD) processes to enable faster and controlled production releases
• Manage pipeline orchestration, triggers, and scheduling mechanisms
• Implement logging, monitoring, and ing using Datadog dashboards and pipeline logs
• Ensure high availability, reliability, and scalability of CI/CD platforms
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate DevOps best practices
• Improve deployment frequency and reduce failure rates through automation
• Troubleshoot pipeline failures and optimize performance
• Ensure adherence to security and compliance standards in CI/CD and GitOps setup

Mandatory Skills:

• Strong hands-on experience with GitLab CI/CD (pipelines, runners, YAML configurations)
• Expertise in GitOps practices with experience in:
• Repository structuring
• Scheduler/triggers and automation workflows
• Secrets management
• Experience implementing Release on Demand (RoD) / continuous delivery practices
• Hands-on experience with Datadog:
• Strong understanding of CI/CD best practices and DevOps principles
• Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes preferred)
• Proficiency in scripting (Shell, Python, or similar

Desired Skills:

• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud platforms
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible, or similar tools
• Experience with Argo CD, Flux, or other GitOps tools
• Knowledge of Kubernetes administration, Helm, and Kubernetes manifests
• Experience with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps in addition to GitLab
• Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK, Splunk, or other monitoring and logging platforms
• Experience with Datadog APM, metrics, alerts, monitors, and integrations
• Understanding of DevSecOps, SAST, DAST, vulnerability scanning, and container security
• Experience with Vault, AWS Secrets Manager, Azure Key Vault, or similar secrets-management solutions
• Knowledge of Linux/Unix administration and networking fundamentals
• Experience with Blue-Green, Canary, Rolling, and Zero-Downtime deployments
• Familiarity with Release on Demand, Continuous Delivery, and automated release governance
• Experience troubleshooting complex CI/CD, Kubernetes, and production deployment issues

Qualification:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 6+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, Cloud Engineering, or a related role.
• Strong hands-on experience designing and managing enterprise-scale CI/CD and GitOps environments.
• Demonstrated experience with cloud-native technologies, containerization, Kubernetes, and automation.
• Strong understanding of version control, branching strategies, deployment automation, infrastructure management, and DevOps lifecycle practices.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively with development, QA, infrastructure, security, and operations teams.
• Good understanding of security, compliance, reliability, scalability, and high-availability principles.
