Job summary

Knowmax is seeking a hands-on DevOps Engineer to build and run Linux-based infrastructure, containers and CI/CD pipelines. You will automate builds, deployments and security, while supporting production systems across cloud and on-prem environments.

Ideal candidates have 2–4 years in DevOps or Linux sysadmin, with strong Docker and CI/CD experience, plus Bash/Ansible and Terraform exposure. On-call rotations are possible.

Qualifications

• 2 to 4 years of hands-on DevOps or Linux system administration experience supporting production workloads.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or equivalent practical experience.
• Linux (must have): strong admin on RHEL, Rocky or Ubuntu, including systemd, LVM, SELinux and performance troubleshooting.
• Docker (must have): Dockerfile authoring, Docker Compose, image registries, networking and volumes.
• CI/CD: Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD or GitHub Actions, plus Git and branching strategies.
• Automation: Bash scripting (must have), Ansible, Terraform exposure. Python is an advantage.
• Cloud: hands-on experience with OCI or AWS compute, networking, storage and load balancers.
• Web services: Nginx, HAProxy or Apache as reverse proxy and load balancer, SSL/TLS config.
• Observability: Prometheus, Alertmanager, Grafana, Loki, Fluent Bit or ELK.
• Support operations: incident, problem and change management, SLA-driven support.

Responsibilities

• Provision, configure and maintain Linux servers across development, UAT and production.

• Implement blue-green and rolling deployments using Docker Compose and reverse proxies.
• Automate server config and deployments with Ansible, Bash and Python.
• Provision cloud infra with Terraform on OCI or AWS.
• Scan images and hosts for vulnerabilities and remediate findings.
• Run containers as non-root with minimal privileges and keep secrets out of images.
• Set up monitoring and alerting with Prometheus, Grafana and exporters.

Job description

We are looking for a hands-on DevOps Engineer with strong Linux, Docker and CI/CD skills. You will build, run and improve the infrastructure behind our applications on Linux virtual machines and Docker hosts, across cloud and on-premises environments. The role combines infrastructure automation with day-to-day production support. You will work closely with development, QA and security teams to automate builds and releases, keep servers and containers secure and patched, and maintain monitoring that gives early warning of issues. Kubernetes experience is not required.

What you will do

• Provision, configure and maintain Linux servers (RHEL, Rocky Linux, Ubuntu, Oracle Linux) across development, UAT and production
• Manage users, access, SSH keys, systemd services, cron jobs, storage (LVM, filesystems) and log rotation
• Apply OS patches and security updates within defined SLAs and maintain hardened server baselines
• Monitor and tune server performance (CPU, memory, disk I/O, network) and plan capacity
• Containerize applications with optimized Dockerfiles, including multi-stage builds and minimal base images
• Deploy and operate multi-container applications using Docker Compose on single and multiple hosts
• Manage private container registries (Harbor, Docker Registry or cloud registries), image tagging and retention
• Configure Docker networking, volumes, restart policies, resource limits and logging for production workloads
• Troubleshoot container, image, networking and storage issues in live environments
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD or GitHub Actions

• Provide L2/L3 production support, handle tickets and escalations, and run root cause analysis within SLAs
• Take part in the on-call rotation and in incident, problem and change management
• Work with developers to improve build times, deployment reliability and environment consistency
• Write and maintain runbooks, architecture notes and standard operating procedures
