Description
We are looking for an Associate DevOps Engineer with 3 years of hands-on experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist in managing cloud infrastructure, supporting CI/CD pipelines, containerizing applications, and contributing to automation initiatives. You will work under the guidance of senior engineers while taking ownership of assigned infrastructure tasks and continuously growing your skills.
A Typical Day in the Life Includes:
- Assist in designing, deploying, and managing AWS cloud infrastructure including EC2, VPC, VPC Peering, Subnets, Security Groups, Route Tables, NAT Gateways, Internet Gateways, and Load Balancers
- Support and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD or similar tools
- Containerize applications using Docker and support Kubernetes (EKS) cluster operations
- Write and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform under guidance
- Manage and administer Linux-based servers (Ubuntu/Amazon Linux)
- Configure and manage Nginx as a reverse proxy and load balancer
- Support MySQL and MongoDB database administration tasks including backups and basic troubleshooting
- Write automation scripts (Bash/Python) to streamline routine operational tasks
- Assist in implementing monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions
- Leverage AI tools and platforms to automate repetitive DevOps tasks and improve efficiency
- Manage Git repositories, follow branching strategies, and collaborate via merge requests
- Troubleshoot basic networking issues across VPCs and peered connections
- Follow security best practices across infrastructure and deployments
Basic Qualifications:
AWS Cloud
- EC2 instance management, basic AMI operations
- Understanding of VPC architecture (Subnets, Route Tables, NACLs, Security Groups)
- Working knowledge of VPC Peering
- Networking fundamentals: DNS (Route 53), Elastic IPs, NAT/Internet Gateways, Load Balancers (ALB/NLB)
- Basic understanding of IAM roles, policies, and security practices
- S3, EBS storage management
- Basic CloudWatch monitoring and log management
Containerization & Orchestration
- Docker: Writing Dockerfiles, building images, managing containers, Docker Compose
- Kubernetes basics: Deployments, Services, ConfigMaps, Secrets, Ingress
- Familiarity with Amazon EKS is a plus.
Infrastructure as Code
- Terraform: Writing basic modules, understanding state management and providers
- Ability to follow and contribute to version-controlled infrastructure workflows.
Linux & Scripting (Strong)
- Strong command over Linux administration (Ubuntu/CentOS/Amazon Linux)
- Shell scripting (Bash) for automation
- Python scripting for basic tooling and automation tasks
- Understanding of cron jobs, systemd services, and process management
Databases
- MySQL: Basic installation, configuration, and backup/restore
- MongoDB: Basic deployment, understanding of replica sets and backup strategies.
Version Control
- Git: Branching strategies (GitFlow), merge requests, conflict resolution
- GitLab/GitHub repository management and basic CI/CD pipeline configuration.
Web Server & Reverse Proxy
- Nginx: Basic configuration as reverse proxy, SSL termination, virtual hosts.
Automation & AI
- Willingness to use AI-powered tools (GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Kiro, etc.) to automate infrastructure tasks
- Interest in building automated workflows for deployment and monitoring
- Scripting automation for routine operational tasks.
Good to Have
- Exposure to EMR on EKS / Spark workloads
- Basic familiarity with Kafka or OpenSearch/Elasticsearch
- Exposure to Prometheus and Grafana for monitoring
- Awareness of DocumentDB or managed database services
- Basic exposure to Ansible or other configuration management tools
- Understanding of microservices architecture.
