Ramboll India in Chennai seeks an experienced Designer/Senior Designer for Electrical Power systems. You will independently handle design activities, lead a team of Designers and Draughtsmen, and develop 2D/3D drawings for MV/HV/EHV substations (AIS, GIS, Hybrid).

You will coordinate with engineers and deliver high-quality documents per international standards. The role requires hands-on drafting in AutoCAD, MicroStation and Revit BIM360, with exposure to offshore and HVDC substations a plus.

Qualifikationen

• Diploma in Electrical or equivalent degree from a recognised authority/university.
• 8+ years for a designer role; 10–15 years for a senior designer role.
• Experience in HV & EHV outdoor and indoor substations.
• Hands-on drafting and design of substations up to 745kV.
• Familiar with IEEE/IEC/BS EN codes and standards.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, MicroStation and Revit BIM360.
• Exposure to offshore HV substations and related design work is a plus.

• Ability to handle all design activities of a project independently with minimum support from engineers.
• Lead the group of Designers & Draughtsman. Technically guide and train them for timely completion of the project.
• Understand scope and battery limit and bring it up with lead if client requirement is more than what is required in the scope.
• Develop design drawings in 2D and 3D models for MV, HV & EHV outdoor and indoor substations (AIS, GIS and Hybrid)
• To make use of intelligent tools like automation of AutoCAD using excel, etc.
• As a Senior Electrical Substation Designer, you will be working in a project team environment with engineers and other designers involved in medium, high and extra high voltage substation design. Responsibilities will include the preparation of the following substation drawings:
• Key Single Line Diagram
• Metering & Protection Single Line Diagram
• Overall General Arrangement plan & section views
• Electrical Equipment Plans & arrangement drawings
• Detailed Bill of Materials
• Grounding / Earthing Plan
• Civil input drawings like floor and wall cutout details, tile arrangement drawing, panel base frame fixing details. Also, Substation layout part shall include, fence, road, buildings part (high level)
• Coordination for building foundation and equipment structure design
• Typical installation drawings for earthing, lightning protection, cables and cable trays
• Power and Control cable schedule
• Cable trench / duct bank layouts, cable tray routing layouts
• Illumination or Lighting layouts (Indoor and Outdoor)
• Control Building Equipment and basement room layout and sections
• Control and protection logic diagram
• Interfacing block diagram
• Drafting assistance in control and protection schematics
• Equipment vendor drawing review from primary design perspective
• Take responsibility for the quality and accuracy of all your deliverables
• Basic understanding and application of major equipment, such as power transformers, power circuit breakers, disconnect switches, VT/CT’s, surge arrestors, control house, and other high-voltage substation related materials
• Prepare/create construction documents for the installation of new, or modifications of existing, electrical high voltage substations.
• Provide drafting support for various type of substation project including conceptual, feasibility study, FEED and detailed design
• Utilize end user’s requirement specification and their standard practices and/or Engineering direction to produce new drawings and update existing drawings utilizing AutoCAD and MicroStation
• Maintain document management system with quality data.
• Check and QA/QC of the drawings / documents.
• Multi-discipline coordination including civil and MEP inputs and coordination
• Provides status reports. Perform other duties as required.
• Travel to job site, if required.

• Must have hands on experience in drafting and designing of complete outdoor and indoor substations up to 745kV.
• Having experience in offshore substation, HVDC substation, Battery Energy storage system (BESS) design will be an added advantage.
• Tool hands-on experience mandatory:
