Job summary

Husky Technologies in Chennai invites a Designer, Development - Mechanical Tooling to join our multi-disciplinary engineering team. You will translate product definitions into robust design concepts and deliver high-quality, manufacturable tooling designs.

You will collaborate across disciplines, perform DFMEA, create design documents, and support product releases. The role requires hands-on assembly ability and a strong grounding in GD&T and tooling experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent work experience.
• Strong 3D modeling and detailing skills with manufacturability focus.
• Experience applying GD&T and tolerance analysis is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Convert product definition into design concepts with minimal guidance.
• Execute designs using established standards and create parts, assemblies and BOMs.
• Lead or participate in design reviews and DFMEA activities.
• Support product development and release processes with design documents.
• Ensure accuracy of engineering documentation and change control.
• Collaborate across disciplines and with suppliers/customers as needed.

Work within a team of multi discipline Engineers/Design Specialists in the development of new products. This includes all steps within a formal product development process and focusing on conceptual design and design discipline while delivering high quality, high performance, reliable and cost-effective designs on time.

• Convert Product Definition into design concept with minimal guidance
• Complete design execution applying design standards
• Complete part modeling and drafting; assemblies, BOMs, release to BAAN
• System level design with limited guidance applying design standards
• Contribute to design reviews
• Participate in or lead continuous improvement activities
• Work effectively within the Product Development process and Product Release processDesign risk mitigation including participation or facilitation of DFMEA
• Cross discipline interaction and communication
• Participate in Detail Verification using knowledge of design standards
• Creation of Design Documents and Validation Plans
• Verifying and monitor engineering documentation

• Experience designing and building tooling and machinery with a focus on manufacturability is an asset
• GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and tolerance stack up analysis experience is an advantage
• Hands on – ability to complete basic mechanical assembly tasks

Qualifications

Education

Post-secondary education (Bachelor’s in engineering preferred) or equivalent work experience.
