Job summary

Lumen Atelier in Indore is seeking a Designer – Architectural Lighting & AutoCAD to translate architectural and interior design requirements into accurate lighting layouts and technical drawings.

You will prepare AutoCAD drawings, develop lighting layouts, coordinate with architects and designers, assist in fixture selection, and support the team through the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 2.5 years of relevant experience in AutoCAD drafting, architectural/interior/lighting design.
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD is mandatory.
• Experience in architectural lighting or lighting consultancy preferred.
• Understanding of architectural drawings and lighting fixtures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, develop, and update AutoCAD drawings, reflected ceiling plans, lighting layouts, related technical drawings and BOQ.
• Develop lighting layouts based on architectural drawings and client briefs.
• Coordinate with architects, interior designers, consultants, and project teams to implement lighting requirements.
• Assist in selection and specification of architectural and decorative lighting fixtures.
• Prepare fixture layouts, lighting plans, schedules, legends, and other project documentation.
• Review drawings for accuracy and coordinate with stakeholders; revise drawings as needed.
• Support lighting concepts and solutions that enhance aesthetics and functionality of spaces.
• Coordinate lighting requirements with related drawings and teams; stay updated on products and technologies.

Position Overview

We are looking for a Designer – Architectural Lighting & AutoCAD who can translate architectural and interior design requirements into accurate, functional, and aesthetically considered lighting layouts and technical drawings.

The candidate will be responsible for preparing and modifying AutoCAD drawings, developing lighting layouts, coordinating with architects and interior designers, assisting in fixture selection, and supporting the team throughout the project lifecycle.

The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of architectural drawings, lighting fixtures, spatial planning, and technical drafting, along with an eye for design and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, develop, and update AutoCAD drawings, reflected ceiling plans, lighting layouts, related technical drawings and BOQ
• Develop lighting layouts based on architectural drawings, interior concepts, project requirements, and client briefs.
• Understand project drawings and translate design requirements into practical lighting solutions.
• Coordinate with architects, interior designers, consultants, project teams, and other stakeholders to understand and implement lighting requirements.
• Assist in the selection and specification of appropriate architectural and decorative lighting fixtures based on design intent, application, technical requirements, and project specifications.
• Prepare fixture layouts, lighting plans, schedules, legends, and other project-related documentation.
• Review drawings for accuracy, coordination, dimensions, fixture positioning, and design consistency.
• Make revisions to drawings based on client, architect, designer, or project team feedback.
• Assist in developing lighting concepts and solutions that enhance the aesthetics, functionality, and experience of spaces.
• Coordinate lighting requirements with architectural, interior, electrical, and other relevant drawings wherever required.
• Understand and incorporate relevant technical information such as fixture dimensions, mounting requirements, beam angles, wattage, colour temperature, IP ratings, and other product specifications.
• Coordinate with the internal sales, design, and technical teams for smooth execution of projects.
• Support the preparation of lighting proposals, presentations, product selections, fixture schedules, and technical submissions as required.
• Participate in client, architect, and interior designer meetings when required to understand project requirements and present design solutions.
• Support the team during project execution by addressing drawing-related and fixture-related requirements.
• Maintain proper documentation of revisions of drawings and project files.
• Stay updated on new lighting products, technologies, applications, and design trends.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Architecture, Interior Design, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 2.5 years of relevant experience in AutoCAD drafting, architectural design, interior design, lighting design, or a related field.
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD is mandatory.
• Experience in architectural lighting, interior design, or lighting consultancy will be preferred.
• Good understanding of architectural drawings, floor plans, elevations, sections, and reflected ceiling plans.
• Understanding of various architectural and decorative lighting fixtures and lighting technologies.
• Ability to interpret drawings and design concepts and convert them into accurate technical layouts.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in drafting and documentation.
• Ability to work collaboratively with architects, interior designers, consultants, sales teams, and project stakeholders.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of AutoCAD, Photoshop, or other relevant design and visualization software will be an added advantage.
• Strong visual and spatial understanding.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good project coordination and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• Willingness to travel for site visits, project meetings, and client/architect interactions when required.
