Job summary

Atlas Copco Group is seeking a Design/Senior Design Engineer for NPD piston technology. Lead new product development, deliver projects on time, and improve product performance while maintaining sustainability.

You will collaborate with CAE, Electrical Design, and manufacturing teams to drive innovation and on-time delivery. The role requires 3–7 years of mechanical engineering experience, familiarity with ASME/CE/API standards, CAD tools like Inventor, and PLM Enovia.

As Design / Senior Design Engineer - NPD - Piston Technology

Your mission is to deliver and participate in new product development projects from an engineering perspective while improving Time to Market and driving the technical competence of GECIA teams through a solution-centric approach. You shall achieve this by developing your competence and focusing your efforts on Product Innovation and technology platforms while maintaining On-time Delivery and a First Time Right approach.

As Design / Senior Design Engineer

You will plan project execution with the objective of delivering projects within the estimated timelines and quality standards, in accordance with GECIA's structure, processes, and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Focus

• Understand project requirements and work content based on the inputs received.
• Ensure GECIA's contribution towards improving Time to Market.
• Communicate progress and deliverable updates to stakeholders, raise red flags, and highlight concerns proactively. Demonstrate GECIA's contribution to NPD projects.
• Monitor deliverables as per SOPs and resolve technical issues raised.
• Ensure proper coordination with other competencies involved, such as CAE and Electrical Design.
• Ensure designs are reviewed by the designated reviewer before release.
• Willingness to travel to Talegaon MIDC for onsite deployment.

Your day-to-day

Experience & Knowledge Requirement

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical or Production) with minimum 3-7 years of Experience.
• Sound Knowledge about Reciprocating Compressors.
• Knowledge of International standards like ASME and CE, API.
• Knowledge about Design of Skid packages for compressor would be an added advantage.
• Project Management Experience as added advantage.
• Knowledge of Sheet metal, Piping design, Flange selection, heavy fabrication.
• Expertise in Product Development Process (Concept-to-Product).
• Knowledge of APQP, DFMEA, Design Review Processes is essential.
• Knowledge of DFM & DFA, Design for serviceability.
• Experience of working on CAD software like Inventor & PLM system Enovia.
• Knowledge of BOM generation, working on ERP (BPCS) system.
• Experience of doing design calculations at component level.
