Hinduja Tech Limited in Chennai, India, seeks an experienced automotive design engineer with 2–6 years in rear axle or driveline development. You will work on mechanical design fundamentals, tolerances, and manufacturing processes to optimize components.

You will analyze cost, weight, and performance, support DFMEA and PPAP activities, and collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing to localize materials and processes.

Formación

• 2 to 6 years of experience in automotive product design/development, preferably in rear axle, driveline or related aggregates.
• Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals.
• Knowledge of engineering drawings, GD&T, fits, tolerances and tolerance stack-up.
• Understanding of casting, forging, machining, welding, sheet-metal forming and heat treatment.
• Ability to perform basic calculations related to stress, torque, fatigue, bearings, bolted joints and component sizing.
• Basic knowledge of DFMEA, DVP, design reviews and engineering change processes.
• Strong interest in product costing, benchmarking, cost reduction and design optimization.
• Good analytical, problem-solving and cross-functional communication skills.
• Knowledge of PLM tools for part lifecycle, BOM, revision, release, and engineering change management.

Responsabilidades

• Identify and develop VA/VE opportunities across rear axle components and assemblies.
• Analyze opportunities for cost, weight, material, design and manufacturing-process optimization.
• Support should-cost, cost-driver, teardown and competitor benchmarking studies.
• Evaluate alternative concepts for cost, performance, durability, manufacturability and implementation feasibility.
• Support design changes through 3D CAD, engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerance analysis and basic design calculations.
• Develop product understanding of axle housing, differential carrier, CWP, differential, axle shafts, wheel ends, bearings and seals.
• Apply DFMA and engineering fundamentals while developing optimization proposals.
• Collaborate with suppliers and Manufacturing on localization, alternate materials/processes and manufacturing improvements.
• Support DFMEA, validation, prototype development, PPAP and engineering change implementation.
• Maintain a VA/VE idea/project tracker and monitor savings through production implementation.
• Manage part lifecycle and BOM in PLM tools, including part creation, BOM updates, design releases & revisions.
